Military get the same mail in ballots civilians get. Ask me how I know.
Greg
Nice pivot. We are talking about absentee ballots being the same as mass mailed ballots that aren't requested... at least I am. What you are trying to divert to is something else. The link is there. Prove it wrong. I'm not sure what is important to note about the distinction between voting by mail and absentee ballots but that link was informative on another issue: "Voting fraud is extremely rare in the US, and voting by mail is no exception. In the past 20 years, over 250,000,000 votes have been cast by mail, and according to data from the Heritage Foundation, there have been only 1,285 proven cases of voter fraud resulting in 1,100 convictions." I guess we can put to bed this claim that voting by mail is uniquely given to fraud.

Did you even read the link YOU posted? One ballot allows people to request a mail in ballot if they have various reasons for doing so. The reasons are listed. The other is just a ballot a voter can request if he just doesn't want to show up at the polls on election day. The type of ballot you get is governed by state law. Military get the same ballot as civilians no matter what state they vote in. So, WTF are you talking about now?
Greg
Again a nice obsfucation. I suggest you read it. The point of contention is that absentee ballots are not the same as unrequested mass mailed ballots. So WTF are you talking about? Usually everything but the topic or what is asked of or said to you.
What is an "unregulated mass mailed ballot" and what states are doing that?

Another pivot. That's what the discussion is about. Should it be allowed? Unrequested, not unregulated? If I typed that wrong, it's on me.
Again, what is an "unregulated mass mailed ballot" and what states are doing that?

I'm not sure what is important to note about the distinction between voting by mail and absentee ballots... The only distinction is the state law governing the mail-in ballot. In most states, anyone can request a mail-in ballot (no excuse required), while in others, an "excuse" is required in order to vote absentee (i.e., not in-person). And in 5 states, there is universal mail-in ballot. See here for all the various state rules: www.vote.org/absentee-voting-rules/

Oh, so there is no such thing as an unrequested mailed ballot then. Oh, and no states are doing this. Thank you.

Just for clarity... What is Absentee Voting? Absentee voting (aka “mail-in voting” and “by-mail voting”) is conducted by mail-in ballot before the day of Election Day. All states will mail a ballot to voters if certain conditions are met. The voter may return the ballot in person or by mail. Some states will let voters apply for an absentee ballot in person before Election Day and then vote the ballot that same day. Seventeen states require voters to provide an excuse for voting by absentee ballot. Twenty-eight states and the District of Columbia offer no-excuse absentee voting. Five states have elections that are held by mail-in ballot.
OK, so WTF are you blathering about? You've been all over the map.

I guess the hope is some sort of federal mandate would force states like Texas (and others who require an excuse) to provide a mass mail-in option. If there is some sort of federal mandate (and even if there isn't), there will also need to be some accompanying federal dollars to pay for machines and staff to increase mail-in voting. That's something people aren't really thinking about when this is discussed, but there are practical considerations that are important to whether or not this can be implemented.

Totally agree with that. We would need to have started yesterday but there isn't the political will to see it done.

I didn't say that. So don't pretend to speak for me. It seems that you said it. Why can't you ever address what IS said instead of always having to play games with your "so you mean" or "so you are saying" bullshit? Odd how everyone else got what I was saying except you. WHO even said there was no such thing? Not me. That's because you like to play these pivoting games that you have been doing since I have known you. And I'm not the first to point it out either. But no...thank you. Now go lie about who I am on the subforum.
LOL!!! Yes you did say that:
"The point of contention is that absentee ballots are not the same as unrequested mass mailed ballots."
LOL!

Thanks for encouraging voters to go vote against you even more than they already were going to, Trump. 😁

Trump is back to his old tricks.
He's using the Mephitis mephitis strategy.
What's that?
It's the scientific Genus species name for the striped skunk.
Trump, when he feels threatened, which is just about all the time because he's so fucking insecure, sends up a spray of foul smelling liquid from his rear, to try to distract and repel facts and figures. His BS about delaying the election, that mail-in ballots are prone to vote fraud, and all the rest of his lies are little more than skunk spray.
It's pathetic.

You are dense aren't you? An absentee ballot is not the same as what is being proposed which is to mass mail a ballot without the person requesting it in advance. Demos pointed out with a link some of the processes states use. However with 90 days or so left what some want to see is ballots being mass mailed to everyone and that is how they vote or I believe they can go to the polls if they wish. However if the virus is the concern I suspect there will be no option. That I'm not sure about. Maybe TL or Demos knows if there will be an option to still vote in person or just all mail in should it come to pass. I'm guessing not if the virus is the issue otherwise why are some proposing to change anything. Now if you are still confused kindly go annoy someone else with your obtuseness and reinterpreting of what I actually say. You mean the ballots that go out to registered voters only? Greg

People are saying that Trump plans on winning the election by visiting every polling booth in black neighborhoods in swing states on election day. He'll leave behind such a stink.

You Liberal Lunatics are so Gullible. Trump was responding to the comments from the worst and most corrupt president in history No class Barack Hussein obama At the funeral for John Lewis. Obama is a classless piece of shit turning Lewis's funeral into one of his typical Racist rants against Trump and Republicans accusing them of voter suppression and other conspiracy theories. Yep Trump played you Liberal fools AGAIN.
