Regimental motto, to do with defence against overwhelming odds. We're a descendent Regiment of the 95th; strong American connections. Baker rifle was a workable, service rifle for large scale infantry use. Arguably, the 95th invented the modern infantry soldier, around about 1809 in the Peninsular War. I recommend Mark Urban's "Rifles" as a very good read. Them was tough, tough boys. |
