The Democrats are not now, and never have been, "the left." Democrats Wimp Out on Federal Marijuana Legalization. Thanks, Joe Biden! The party rejects a position shared by two-thirds of the country (but not its presidential nominee).
There's a reason Republicans are agitating to vote for Joe. And Joe is running away from his base to welcome them with open arms. The left will be swallowing a poison pill to vote for these clowns again. I won't be. I think I've made that clear enough. Black Lives Matter sure. But not if they're smoking a joint!! The sad thing is, the children agitating in the streets don't even know wtf they're doing or who they're supporting. Queshank

Holy shit, everything that's going on in this country and this is a big issue?
Sessions is gone, the Justice Department has zero interest.
Next.

I hate that I have to hold leftists by the hand and try to make them understand the simplest of concepts. What exactly do you think the BLM protests are about? What exactly do you think is "going on in this country?" How many black men are in jail for holding? What has the war on drugs gotten us besides the largest prison population... disproportionately black ... in the world? Do I really have to explain this to you? Queshank

I vote for things not against them.
I'm pro single payer. (Trump is more pro single payer than Biden.)
I'm pro marijuana legislation. (Trump has Biden beat there too. At least Trump expressed favorable views on decriminalization and it was his underlings that rebelled.)
I'm anti interventionist. (Again ... Trump has Biden beat there.)
Meanwhile, leftists have a hard choice ahead of them. Vote for the new, repackaged Republican Party in Joe Biden ... or sit it out. Sucks to be a modern leftist.

So the Democrats should continue to ignore BLM protestors? And continue ignoring their base the way the GOP ignored theirs for years.
Gotcha. Wonder how that'll work out.

The Democratic Party isn't left of center, they're an establishment party that courts the left.

How would one ever know what Trump supports or doesn't support when ever other word that comes out of his mouth is a lie?

They're an establishment party courting the Republicans. I mean really Mojo. What has the Biden campaign done to try to court the left?

Despite his faults, Biden is an adult. The Donald is not. The Donald is not "for" anything beyond his own wallet and self-worship.

Here's what I know.
Biden is on the record opposing single payer.
He opposes marijuana legalization.
As vice president, he and Barack Obama started 3 more wars to add to the 4 George the Younger started. Not because Obama wanted to start more wars. I give him that much. But rather because he was unable to reign in our national security apparatus. The same national security apparatus that has fought Trump every step of the way on leaving Syria and Afghanistan. Joe Biden is even less capable of reigning in our national security apparatus. Especially given how Susan Rice is looking like she's coming out on top of the VP slot picks.
I also see Joe Biden (or rather his handlers...let's be honest Joe Biden isn't running this campaign) courting suburban Republican voters and positioning the Democrat Party to become a blobbish "Establishment" party opposing the Trumplicans. Further making it impossible for the left to advance any policy positions as suburban Democrats realize they have a lot more in common with suburban Republicans than they do the "socialists" who want to steal their hard earned incomes. And moderate Democrats *and* Republicans sigh with relief as they shed their extreme and wacky fringes.
And that doesn't even get into how the Democrat Party has been actively courting censoring the Internet and outlawing aberrant thoughts.
I guess I was wrong. I do vote against things. And I'm definitely voting against all that.

Biden: Hasn't been impeached. Hasn't committed obstruction of justice. Has released his tax returns. Hasn't told more lies than can be counted. As you pointed out, we know what Biden supports.
Isn't Trump.
Is Biden the perfect "left" candidate? Hell no.... but he isn't Trump and that's all anyone cares about right now.

The first two of which he had the House and Senate? I remember Biden as being one of the few Democrats who was pro-legalization... www.msn.com/en-us/news/newselection2020/read-the-full-text-from-the-fifth-democratic-debate/ar-BBX4FeN?li=BBnbcA1Again, what has he done? A lot of talk and took us to the verge of a hot war with Iran. We're still in every country we were when he was inaugurated. You're right there, it does suck. Not as bad as Clinton vs. Trump, but still a horrible choice.

I think you're right about that, but what has he (Trump) done in the almost four years? The first two of which he had the House and Senate? First step is getting rid of Obamacare. John McCain fucked America one last time before he died. I'm not saying we'd have single payer by now if McCain hadn't blocked that. But I am saying the conversation would be farther along because I highly doubt the conversations would be about *restoring* Obamacare. We still need a House and Senate to vote for single payer. And old school GOPers ain't gonna vote for it. But neither are Democrats. People keep trying to insist it was to get Republican votes that they watered down Obamacare and got rid of any kind of single payer option. But it wasn't. The Dems had a 60 vote supermajority in the Senate and had the majority in the House. They got rid of all those things to get Democrat votes. And for most of his first term ... the new Trumplican GOP put a lot of stock into "what Trump wanted." Because what Trump wanted was what his base wanted. And I know from personal experience, Trump's base is far more receptive to single payer than the traditional GOP. And post coronavirus they're going to be even more receptive. I invite you to revisit the article that was the impetus for me starting this thread ...
There's a reason I pointed out Obama let us get dragged into THREE MORE WARFRONTS during his time in office. What has Trump done? Kept us from being dragged into THREE MORE WARFRONTS. And despite having guys like Bolton in key positions, DIDNT get us embroiled in a hot war with Iran. And fought repeatedly against the bureaucracy Obama couldn't to get us out of two more. Trump has done more to get us out of Syria and Afghanistan than Obama did to get us out of anywhere. What I've learned from Trump's time in office ... which I kept illustrating by pointing out time after time "We're not getting out of Syria" ... is that the president doesn't decide those matters. It's why Obama ... the presidential candidate with the most anti war rhetoric since the 60s ... couldn't stop us from getting into more wars. It's why Obama ... the presidential candidate with the most anti war rhetoric since the 60s ... had initiated more strikes by the time he was accepting his Nobel Peace Prize than Bush had in his entire 8 years in office. Until the American people start taking this seriously and stop opposing drawdowns when a guy they don't like is in office, and supporting wars started when a guy they DO like is in office ... this is the best we are going to be able to get. Bobblehead Biden with Susan Rice as VP? With an old school Republican and Democrat base? Holy shit Mojo. Queshank

Until the American people start taking this seriously and stop opposing drawdowns when a guy they don't like is in office, and supporting wars started when a guy they DO like is in office ... this is the best we are going to be able to get. That would mean, from time to time, agreeing with the political opposition and disagreeing with your political allies. As long as people entangle their sense of self with a political party, this will be almost impossible to achieve.

Correct.. There is no perfect candidate. No one.. as even the Mighty Q now realizes, votes FOR a candidate.
Q votes AGAINST Biden's marijuana position yet marijuana legalization under ANY Republican candidate is simply not happening.. At least Biden isn't likely to veto the legislation should Democrats pass it.

No President/Party has put more effort (some of it quite successful) into censoring the Internet than Trump/Republicans .. None. Trump is moving forward with his plan to regulate social media
