Jesus son of god is the stupidest thing ever concocted in a diseased mind yet I've never met any christian who said that it wasn't literal.
It violates all laws of logic, physics and others and is just imbecilic on the face of it but you'd be hard pressed to find a single christian who wouldn't swear that it's the literal truth.
These asshole can talk for hours about symbolism and allegories but when it comes to the big one they all show what they are, a bunch of anti scientific, anti logic bozos who will change the subject each time you point that out to them.

I guess. Unless you consider what "son of God" actually meant to the audience to whom the original texts were written. Most people (many Christians included) don't actually care about that, unfortunately, preferring a shallow and somewhat meaningless grasp of the title. That, of course, sets up the title as an extremely flimsy straw man that is easy to attack. And for someone who only cares about attaching straw men, there is no incentive whatsoever to understand what the title meant, and thus what it means. But whatever, fill your boots.

I get what you're laying down, but for a Christian you're a much deeper thinker than most.
The common explanation I hear all the time, and is satisfied by Fezilla is that there are 3 gods that are 1 god. Math is hard.

🤣 Okay, you get a point. I was having a conversation with my nephew probably 3-4 summers ago. He was telling me, "You have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God to be a Christian." I asked him what that meant. "Well, you have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God." Yeah, but what does that mean? Does it mean that God the Father came down and had sex with Mary? Like, Jesus is the biological progeny of God? "Well, no..." Okay, what does it mean then? "Well, you just have to believe it..." Okay, so you have to assent to a statement for which there is no meaning? You just have to agree to certain words? "..." Because if "Jesus is the Son of God" is just some syllables and agreeing to that string of phonetic sounds is what "makes you a Christian," isn't the whole thing kind of meaningless? "Well, you just have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God."

"Well, you just have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God." But if you want to talk about what it meant so that you can understand what it means, that's different. In Hebrew culture, the "Son of God" was Israel. "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son" (Hosea 11:1, NIV). The nation of Israel was understood to be God's representative, the fulfillment of God's promise to faithful Abraham (not some arbitrary choice of a "favourite nation"). As "God's son," Israel was to be YHWH's representative to bring about "blessing to the world." God was intent to bless all the people of the world, and Israel (his "son") was to be his means. Unfortunately, for a lot of reasons (not least of which were idolatry and self-interest), Israel continually failed in this mission/mandate. There was also a prophecy that David's progeny would fulfill that call to sonship: "When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son" (2 Samuel 7:12-14) The immediate fulfillment of this, David's son Solomon, proved himself just as unfaithful and idolatrous as the rest of the nation. The Christian claim was that Jesus fulfilled the call to be "God's son"—completely faithful, immune to idolatry, the ultimate mediator of God's blessing to all people, and the legitimate king in the line of David. Coincidentally, "Son of God" was also a title claimed by the Roman Emperor (the immediate progeny of the previous emperor, deified upon his death). Similar to the title "Prince of Peace," a title that originated in Hebrew scripture was a direct challenge to the authority claimed by the highest pagan power. So...Son of God, in the context of the culture of origin, carried all of the following claims: legitimate representative of God in the royal line of David (a claim to be "Messiah"), the fulfillment of the 'true Israel," and a claim to authority in defiance of the pagan claims of Rome. When it comes to what "Son of God" means today...it still means all those things. Nothing to do with biology. In fact, although too many Christians claim to believe that "Jesus is the Son of God" without actually knowing what they mean by that, pretty well nobody believes that in some kind of biological sense.
