I interacted with Queshank on here sometime in the 20-teens and then on Facebook shortly after the 2020 election. On both occasions - and in contrast to the thoughtful Queshank that I had met on LNF around 2005 - I found the new Queshank to be a dishonest and insulting conversation partner. I expect that the forum is better off without him.

I had assumed that it was ported over from the old board. It took me a few tries to remember the password. So I think a few things happened at once that caused me to drop off the board, all around 2008: I had a child, I bought a new house, Obama was elected. The arrival of my child and the purchase of the new (and fixer-upper) house made this board - which can be exhausting - a time-and-energy-sink that I really couldn't afford. And the election of Obama was a relief - and a victory for my ideological "side" - such that getting in these trenches no longer seemed the severe threat that it had been, and I gave myself permission to end my tour of duty in the intellectual war, at least on this front. How have your 15 years been? |

I had a credit card company call me recently to ask for some more information to open a line of credit that I very definitely didn't request. The system worked in that case, but it was pretty scary to think if those people had - or if someone else gets - just a little more information about me, then I might be looking at a costly and time-consuming campaign to convince creditors that I am not the one who owes them. So yeah, I knew that this LNF board was not the old LNF board. Queshank mentioned it the last time we interacted, but also, the URL is different and my post count would be >0 on the old one. I just don't remember manually recreating my username here and thought someone with technical skills and admin rights on the old board might have been able to do a dump of some the database tables. But also, I am old and could easily just not remember that manual creation. Congrats on your kid's successful launch into adulthood, and thanks for the welcome. I'll do some lurking, get a feel for things, and then maybe see you in the threads. |
