Most strongly religious minded people think that the only thing you have to do to prove atheists wrong is to "prove" the existence of "god" or even less introduce an element of uncertainty as to its existence. Well, nothing could be further from the truth, even if you manage such a thing, there are still an infinite number of possibilities of which only a finite one would be in you favor. One of the most flagrant is an "afterlife", you have to ask yourself why a being would create this universe would be necessarily interested in creating an infinite life in some parallel universe where the laws of decay that affect this universe don't apply.
There are many things that plead against such a notion, like continuity for example. Our ancestors were once no more complex than amoebae and they since reproduced generation after generation until us. At what point did "god" decide that his "creation" was evolved enough to deserve being preserved in perpetuity in some permanently healthy yet still evolving state (for one thing we would still be able to accumulate memories). Is there someone in paradise that was deemed complex enough to be there but whose parents weren't? Of course the twits who wrote the bible never asked themselves that question because they never even suspected that there was such a thing as evolution.
There's also the desire to be worshiped. That's such a contemptuous trait in a human being that you have to ask yourself why some people are so insistent that it is an essential trait of "god". Basically what they are saying is that "god" will tell (in a manner of speaking) someone who just died "You haven't kissed my ass enough when you were alive so for that failing I'll have you tortured forever!!"
So your god is nothing but a narcissistic asshole with a particularly intense liking for ass kissers and bootlickers
But other that that, he's perfect!!!
Well, in a way that would explain the poor state of our world...

But the reality is that if a theist proves the existence of a deity, they have, by definition, proven the atheist wrong. That's kind of axiomatic? |

But the reality is that if a theist proves the existence of a deity, they have, by definition, proven the atheist wrong. That's kind of axiomatic? You're being obtuse, maybe because you're a lot stupider than I gave you credit for. My bad. My point is obviously that proving that something "intentionally" created the universe is a far cry from proving that there is any kind a afterlife or any kind of the characteristics that you people attribute to "god". Why is it impossible to have any kind of intelligent discussion with you? If you had made the effort to read my post you would have understood what I was trying to make you understand. It's not that difficult. If there's no "afterlife" then whether there is any kind of a "god" is moot. You get that? Or do you need me to use hand puppets? I don't know what a "deist god" is supposed to do but I guess it's kinda minimalist. The point is that you bible thumping morons don't seem to realize the unlikelihood of god being the way you believe it is. Now make the effort of reading the entirety of my first post before you make a remark and I won't have to see you as a horse's ass. |

OF COURSE and OBVIOUSLY if someone proves that God exists, that proves that the atheist is wrong. 2. You follow up with an argument against the possibility that God exists. That argument is irrelevant to your first sentence. I responded to the problem with your first sentence. Why should I have to also respond to your argument which is irrelevant to your first sentence? 3. You conflate the argument about the existence of God with specific other claims which are secondary claims. It is possible to believe in the existence of God without believing in the afterlife or even the necessity of worship. 4. You say, "So your god..." Oh! So you're not just talking about the existence of God! You have a particular beef with a particular belief system. Why not just be honest about that? 5. You are insulting. Deliberately and specifically: "ass kissers" "bootlickers" "go fuck yourself" "asshole" "bible thumping morons" You actually take offence when none is given, which seems remarkably oversensitive.
