I confess I was somewhat blasé about AOC before this. I thought she had a tendency to polarize people unnecessarily.
But after this incident I agree with Greg. More power to her.

I wonder what AOC would think if Yoho had called men "baxtards" from the House floor. Now, he shouldn't have called her names. It only shows how childish he is or comes across as. To me, though, it's very low on the things that our Congressmen and women need to start working on.
Perhaps the difference in the importance of this issue as AOC and I see it, is due to the big difference in age between AOC and me. I've been called much worse, laughed and walked away. Now that AOC has made her statement on the floor of the House, are they going to spend committee time, floor time and focus on speech or are they going to focus on the pandemic and the other major issues facing our nation? Don't they go on another vacation in a week or two? Get to work, people, and do the job that you were elected to do!
This is not an endorsement of Yoho. It's just my thoughts on something the Congresswoman from NY has brought to the attention of the nation.

The House passed a new Coronavirus relief bill like 2 months ago. What has the Senate being doing this entire time? Didn't vote on it or propose an alternative until finally admitting it was necessary again like a week ago.

And now McTurtle is bloviating about how awful it would be if people receiving $600/wk would be getting more than they normally earn.
Hmmm. Perhaps the solution for that is to raise the minimum wage? Like to a living wage of $14/hr?
And in terms of earnings, he's ignoring that people who are laid off no longer have employer sponsored health insurance. So he should subtract that expense from their Covid CARE benefit.
Cons are so disgusting.

The same McConnell that panicked when the first round of PPP funding magically dwindled away [Due to corporations taking a huge cut of it while small businesses got sent to the back of the line] and demanded immediate hundreds of billions more for it. Never seen McTurtle run to Congress faster than he did to make sure Corporate America got their government handouts. But doesn't mind sitting around while the poor and middle class suffer from the economic and health impact of the Trump Virus. I wish he had a neighbor like Rand Paul's neighbor.

That seems relevant to my question in your other thread on PPP.
How much of the billions thrown at the business community has gone to high flying businesses that qualify as small businesses? Such as investment and real estate firms? Where the high salaries are needlessly draining away funds that should be going towards lower and middle income employees?

That is a woman with zero self awareness. Let me be clear, the name calling is uncalled for and not appropriate for elected officials. But her insistence that it had something to do with her race or sex shows how oblivious she is to the absurdity of her political positions. Further, her assumptions that all that dislike her do so solely for her race or sex are sexist and racist themselves.

So... if someone were to call your wife, mother, girlfriend, or daughter a "f*cking bitch" it would have nothing to do with their gender?
As for her political positions, they are not absurd. Perhaps you just don't understand them.

No, it wouldn't have to do with her gender. If they had the same opinion of me, they'd say "f*cking a$$hole." The opinion remains the same, but the gender appropriate disparaging remarks would be applied. I do however, understand why you might not see the absurdity in her politics. That is in no way reflective on me.

Really? Calling a woman a "bitch" has nothing to do with her gender?
Really?
How sad.
