Just found this game. rollercoin.com/?r=kniy3as7 You play mini-games to setup a cryptomining shop. You keep the crypto you mine. It's not amazing, but I keep playing, so thought I'd share. Freon

I was looking for a good place to post this and found this thread. The future of crypto is kinda iffy according to this article, which you can't read w/o a subscription but you can read enough to get the gist of it. fortune.com/2022/01/05/crypto-blackouts-bitcoin-mining-bans-kosovo-iran-kazakhstan-iceland/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=reader&tpcc=readerI still don't understand crypto. It sounds like tulipmania of the 1600's but at least you could plant tulip bulbs. Yet it's still here, consuming ENORMOUS amounts of fossil fueled energy to "mine" something that is really nothing. Just ones and zeros in cyberspace. You can't eat it, you can't plant it, you can't make jewelry out of it, you can't hide it under your mattress. Without electricity, it does not exist. It barely exists with it.

What did PT Barnum say?
Something along the line of "There's a sucker born every minute"...

What did PT Barnum say? Something along the line of "There's a sucker born every minute"... there's no evidence barnum said that, and it's not likely he felt that way about people who paid to see his shows. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There%27s_a_sucker_born_every_minutebut it is, nonetheless, true.

Seriously? Most of this shows were based on delusion and fraud! Yes, seriously. Barnum always considered himself an entertainer, not a scammer. He would not have considered his patrons to be suckers. Just people who paid to be entertained and his job was to give them their money's worth if not more. Like people who watch professional wrestling. They're not suckers, either.

While I agree that it's never been proved that Barnum said that, he did get involved in at least one scam, namely, the Cardiff Giant hoax. So Barnum wasn't the Honest Abe you seem to think he was. One of his competitors may have attributed the quote to Barnum. The line also seems to have a history with card sharks and other types of 19th century scammers. None of this really matters, other than it effect on Barnum's reputation. And the point I was trying to make is that the whole crypto coin fad has some if not all the earmarks of a giant scam. IMHO. Some people may have made money off it. Some people also make money off other scams. Caveat Emptor.

I did not mean to imply Barnum was an "Honest Abe" - just that he was not a con man in the truest sense of that word. He wasn't looking to make a living off of suckers. He was just an entertainer - that's all.

Especially since it's all just ones and zeroes...
Crypto may also turn out to be highly inflationary. Perhaps part of the cause of our current inflation problem.

A relevant question is: what value does cryptocurrency add? A skeptic might say, none. It's purely speculative, with the gainers making money off the suckers. A skeptic might also say it is pure fiat currency, backed by nothing but faith (e.g., there is no GDP to "back it up"). The believer might say it offers a secure means of monetary transactions that are not dependent on national currencies. The believer might say that all currency is pure fiat money, backed up by nothing but faith. Time will tell, that's for sure.

It's cryptic.
