Think again.
There are some signs that the earth's magnetic field may be in the middle of a flip. If that happens, all sorts of things may start to go haywire, including getting bombarded by solar radiation.

Yeah, it's that timing thing. "This could happen 'soon'"...means very different things on different timescales. The video was interesting, though...I didn't know there had been such an increase in fluctuation recently. |
