Does a COVID-19 vaccine mean you will never catch the virus? Or does it mean it will cure you if you are infected (but you might catch it again)?
I saw on Tucker Carlson that several vaccines are being worked on, and one might be available by the end of the year. HOWEVER, the cost of one dosage may be as high as $3,000 or maybe even higher.
Spending $3000 to prevent you from ever catching the virus sounds worth it. But if you can still catch it later, it might not be as worth it.

If I was earning the same in Hawaii as l do here, after tax, I'd have appx. $3000 a year more there. However, Mr. Interweb tells me I'll need to budget appx $10k to cover my family, and there's a thing called "co-pay" which could add costs. Dunno what that is. It seems the healthcare in Hawaii is comparable to UK, but I would have to spend some of my family time doing administration on it every year, which seems alien to me. All in all, I would have similar, or worse, healthcare at a higher cost if I lived in Hawaii.

If a civilised nation develops the vaccine, I'm sure you'll get it cheap.

Nope. Personal responsibility > Daddy government Always. So, because you're poor and can't afford the vaccine, other Americans have to take the risk of you spreading a virus?

Nope. Personal responsibility > Daddy government Always. So, because you're poor and can't afford the vaccine, other Americans have to take the risk of you spreading a virus? That’s why I’m asking what a vaccine is. If it prevents you from catching the virus, you don’t have to worry about someone else giving it to you.

Good Lord.
A poster who keeps bragging about their employer sponsored health insurance policy, is sweating bullets over what? A $20 co-pay for a vaccine that might save his life?
Really?
Moreover, more than likely to try to beat this pandemic, Congress will subsidize the lion's share of the cost of research, development, testing, manufacture, and distribution of an effective vaccine. Hell, I've already read that the gov has already done that for at least one potential vaccine manufacturer.
I'm young enough to remember waiting in line at the city hall in a small town waiting for a FREE sugar cube containing polio vaccine to be handed to me in a little paper cup.
Free.

This is all off the top of my head, so I’m willing to be corrected by anyone who thinks I make a mistake or incompletely state something. Feel free to insert “As I understand it...” before everything I say below. Does a COVID-19 vaccine mean you will never catch the virus? It might, but it could also mean that you are temporarily immune, that your chances of being immune go way up or that if you get it, your symptoms will be much less severe. Generally, vaccines are preventative, not curative. A vaccine usually contains a dead or weakened form of the virus with the expectation that your body’s immune system will use that as a template to develop an immune response that would combat the living/strong virus should it come into contact with it. Introducing a weakened/dead virus into your system after you’ve contracted the living/strong version would have no beneficial effect. With vaccines, as with many things in life, you’re playing the odds. The idea is to stack the odds in your favor as much as possible. It’s possible you’ll still get a losing hand, but if you can add to your chances of winning, you should take it. As for the cost, I don’t know how that’s going to shake out. My personal opinion is that this particular vaccine is essential to the entire economic well being of not just the USA, but the world. I would think paying the companies involved in making and distributing the vaccine would be cheaper than paying people to stay home from work and I see no difference between doing that and paying companies to make bombers or courthouses or highways or whatever. In other words, we use taxes to spread out the cost of bombers, so let’s use taxes to spread out the cost of the vaccine, instead of using taxes to spread out the cost of the quarantine.

Quick solution: by the time an effective covid-19 vaccine is ready, President Biden will do whatever is necessary to deploy it to stop the pandemic.

Unbelievably stupid and deliberately ignorant.
