And yet another post with only part of the story. Limey, can you tell us who, pray tell, were the saints and upstanding citizens that this ex-police officer had to be "rescued" from? The ones who violently assaulted the man in the first place? I'm glad somebody had the integrity to help him out, but not enough integrity in that mob to keep him from being assaulted in the first place. |

And yet another post with only part of the story. Limey, can you tell us who, pray tell, were the saints and upstanding citizens that this ex-police officer had to be "rescued" from? The ones who violently assaulted the man in the first place? I'm glad somebody had the integrity to help him out, but not enough integrity in that mob to keep him from being assaulted in the first place. So tell us, Fossilbrain, who invited the far-right racist counter-demonstrators to that scene in the first place?
Would any of the counter-protestors have rescued one of the protestors?
And would there have been any violence had the far-right thugs not shown up?

There was an element of far-right hooliganism involved with the BLM protests in UK. The worst was last weekend when BLM cancelled their protest due to unease (expressed by police) over potential violence.
The counter protesters arrived anyway and proceeded to fight the police. All a bit embarrassing.
A couple of coppers I know were at protests; one in Bristol, one in London. Both are fairly right wing in their personal attitudes, both are white.
Both say that there are very definitely some agitators and individuals intent on violent confrontation within the BLM crowds, and that the counterprtesters are similarly intent, probably more so, on violent confrontations.
The big surprise was "patriotic right wingers" attacking the police. Didn't see that coming.

About a decade back a co-worker, big white motorcyclist, told met he was wanting to go to a nearby college town and join in the action around some well publicized protests involving the left and the right and police.
I asked him on which side he intended to fight.
His response startled me; that he didn't care which side, just whichever side seemed appropriate at the time.
Later on, after I had left that employer, I ran into that guy again and asked him how all that worked out.
He said he didn't go; his girlfriend, who happens to be black, had talked him out of it.
And so it goes. There are some among us who just want to bash heads and pretend they are men.
