This of course is not surprising. The NY times has for decades been a propaganda machine. She should have known better...its like trying to convince a leftist like castro that he should really think about granting his people more freedoms.

here is a reasonable response from a dem gov of mass.. www.bostonherald.com/2020/07/01/charlie-baker-says-mixed-signals-came-from-all-directions-in-early-coronavirus-response/freon, stop being a hack. I just came back from the vet and wore my mask, as I did grocery shopping and at home depot... oh, want to know how many deaths here in maine..something like 100 in the whole state, most all over 80, most all in portland area, most all in 5 nursing homes...I think our huge county, which includes the capital, has had 10 deaths...10, total...our year to date total covid deaths for the state is about equal to traffic fatalities in the state. and thats using the fuzzy math that counts suspected and not tested covid deaths in the count. and I still wear a mask. now stick to the topic...or perhaps you just roved the point of the topic. |

Here's the problem with masks:
It takes only a small percent (A) of the population to infect the rest, i.e., the super spreaders.
It is also obvious that there's another percent (B) of the population that won't wear a mask unless it's mandated by law.
Think of A and B being circles. Where they overlap, you can get the pandemic expanding, perhaps out of control, in the absence of laws mandating wearing of masks.
I could draw it but I'm hoping people here are intelligent enough to get the point.
And this is why we need laws and rulings to try to contain this pandemic. The alternative is way more sickness and death. To paraphrase our Fearless Leader, "Sickness and death the likes of which you have never seen".

Haven't seen her, and haven't watched Maher since he went cable. I don't do cable, you see. Not since the rise of digital broadcast television combined with the internet. I pay more than enough to be connected as it is. So call me stingy, but I'd rather buy food and cars than crappy infotainment.
