I never made the claim that it was a "historical document." The Bible is not "a document"; it's a collection of texts, all of which were written down historically, and some of which were intended to record history. I recently read The Silk Road. Very interesting. It's a history book. But it's history written basically through one lens: commerce (as opposed to, say, technology, philosophy, conquest, all of which would also be legitimate lenses). The lens of biblical history is theological.

Your "mother teresa" was a criminal. Her so-called hospitals were unsanitary. she kept them that way on purpose, saying that suffering brought people closer to god while squandering money on frivolous things... It's been well documented in a report that was sent to the vatican by their devil's advocate (yeah, it's a real function), aka Christopher Hitchens (you can look him up, his credential are rock solid) but they chose to ignore it and canonized her anyway.
