Or would you just wait and let the pandemic play out until there’s a vaccine for it (if it ever arrives)?

I’d kill 500, easy.
First of all, it would be super easy to create a list of the 500. I could probably think of 20 just off the top of my head.
Secondly, if we do it now, that would ensure that nobody else has to die from the virus, and we’d be able to have a full season of football. Plus, no more lame restrictions on restaurants, churches, movie theaters, etc.

The difference between murder and natural events is pretty stark and clear. I would not murder 500 innocent people to spare 5 million from a natural disaster they brought on themselves 9 times out of 10.
Since our journalists and our "experts" won't do it... let me appeal to the board.
If you are in your 80s and have no comorbidities ... don't leave your house unless you absolutely have to. Don't have company. Talk to your kids and grandkids on the phone. Use Zoom. Or Apple's facetime. Or one of dozens of ways you can see your grandkids without coming into contact with the crap they're carrying around on their shoes.
If you are obese and have type 2 diabetes. Be careful. Don't leave your home unless you have to. Don't attend house parties. Don't go to sit down restaurants.
If you are immunosuppressed in any one of a million ways ... from having type 1 diabetes to having a heart condition to having lupus ... pretend you are in your 80s and act accordingly. See rule 1.
And if you feel like you can't do those things...that no matter what you do you aren't safe ... perhaps you need to ask your governors and public health experts why they're not worried about protecting you and why they're instead focused on trying to stop healthy people from earning a living.

I was once told that there's some Scots in my ancestry. Namely, "Scots-Irish". I've never felt a need to make disparaging remarks about the Scots. Not even the Irish. In fact I'm generally fairly non-racist.
