Psst. Hey Archie. Harley Davidson has closed plants since Trump came in.
GregTrump had nothing to do with it. Foreign motorcycles are sold here at a much lower cost than a Harley. And Harley had trouble selling in other countries because of tariffs. Do you know what the tariff was on a Harley in India?
US President Donald Trump said that even though India has reduced its import tariff on American motorcycles from 100 percent to 50 percent, it is still too high and not acceptable to him.
Trump said the United States, under his leadership, is a country that can no longer be fooled.
“We’re not the foolish country that does so badly. You look at India, very good friend of mine, Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi, you take a look at what they’ve done, 100 percent tax on a motorcycle. We charge them nothing,” Trump told CBS news in an interview on Monday.
My wife’s last bike was a 2016 Honda. It looked like a Harley. Everyone thought it was mine, and mine was hers because I ride a Sportster which is not a full dress bike.
Harley is more expensive because they not only pay employees more than other countries, but our manufacturing laws and employee benefits. I have said here before. At GM an employee may have earned 25 or more dollars an hour, but all the costs of their insurance and other benefits cost us near 80 dollars an hour per employee. Guess why your GM vehicles cost so much.
I told y'all this was the REAL Archie. :-) Greg

No gym today, but I have some things to do. I was going to power wash my back screened deck cement floor and get ready to prime and paint it, but it looks like we will be having rain for another 5 days off and on and I don’t want the primer or paint to get wet before dry, and I have to put a lot of that furniture outside which the rain would not hurt, but some I have to bring inside and would fill up my dining room which I would not like for a week. And I have to bring one of my dogs for a haircut at 1:00 today which I would not be home from the gym on time for. Maybe I will be back tonight. So look out.

Why Health Care Premiums Are Rising Under Obamacare. Insurers are set to raise the premiums for plans sold through HealthCare.gov by an average of 22 percent in 2017, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a report. This is approximately triple the percentage increase from 2015 to 2016, when premiums increased by 7.5 percent. SUMMARY The seismic effects of the Affordable Care Act on insurance markets continue to be felt nearly eight years after its enactment. Premiums for individual coverage more than doubled between 2013 and 2017. Much of that increase resulted from Obamacare's new regulations. Some regulations-such as essential health benefits and actuarial value requirements-had discrete effects on premiums. A cluster of regulations prohibiting medical underwriting, requiring the issuance of coverage, and banning pre-existing condition exclusions under any circumstances collectively had the largest effect on premiums. Additional provisions of the ACA, such as those that induced costly enrollees with other coverage options to migrate to the subsidized individual market, also drove up premiums. The Trump Administration has taken some steps to help mitigate these challenges, but legislative action is the most effective approach. The Graham-Cassidy proposal offers a starting point for policymakers seeking to address these issues, by providing a conceptual framework for empowering states to repair or ameliorate much of the market dislocation resulting from Obamacare.
Psst… Archie, MILLIONS of people are now currently laid off and a good number WON'T be going back to work. Obamacare....
Greg
Yes Greg, because of the pandemic. Terrible what is going on.

Health care? Obama's ACA brought health insurance to 20 million American citizens who previously had NONE. How is that anathema? Because your post mentions the benefit, but not the cost. To honestly discuss a political topic, you have to be willing to discuss both. You must acknowledge the actual cost and explain why the benefit makes the cost worth it and why this particular benefit can't be realized at a lower cost. But that all takes work, of course. A more intellectually honest post would be, "Health care? Obama's ACA brought health insurance to 20 million American citizens who previously had NONE [at a cost of only...] [to the people who pay the cost]" Every political action has a cost. Every one of them. This is why your statement, like "Freedom is no imposition" (the latter defense of the Iraq War) doesn't work and why you don't understand (or won't admit to understanding) an objection to your preferred political action. [ACCIDENTAL DELETION]
Hold on, let me explain what happened here.

Freon, I'm sorry, I was using a new tablet and I accidentally hit "edit" instead of "quote" when trying to respond to your message (as a moderator I can do that) and I accidentally wiped out what you said. I was trying to just respond to the very first part of your message, so I thought I was deleting everything you had said in a quote box except that one particular part. I didn't realize until after I saved the changes that I was editing your original message, not responding to a quote of it.
If there's a way to fix what I've done, I'm happy to do it, but I'm not sure how off the top of my head. I'm going to play around with it and see if I can figure anything out.
I promise, I wasn't trying to censor you!

-MaestroAs everyone can see, I accidentally deleted Freon's post. There was nothing objectionable in it, I just screwed up. The "edit" and "quote" buttons are right next to each other on my screen and I was using a new tablet and...poof. There it went. Literally my first use of mod powers was an accident. Sigh...

Biden was talking about “Buy American,” which has been Trump’s mantra.
I don’t support that. I don’t like that policy under Trump, and won’t like it if Biden is president.
I buy the best product at the price I choose to pay - regardless of its origins. Support quality over protectionism.

Ain't that a bitch. Greg Hi Greg. Jets for the carb don’t wear out. They are most likely real dirty. Dirt sometimes also causes the float not to work and you carb may leak gas when you shut off the engine and don’t shut off the gas, not good. Fire hazard. Take the carb apart and soak the parts and jets in a good cleaner, blow the jets out with high pressure air. If you want a bit better performance, get a new S&S carb.

Health care? Obama's ACA brought health insurance to 20 million American citizens who previously had NONE.
How is that anathema?
And who paid for it? How much did insurance cost increase for every individual in the country?
That was mostly due to the soaring cost of health care, as well as for-profit insurance companies exaggerating their costs.
The logical solution? Eliminate the costly middle man: single payer, Medicare for All.

Jasmine American made products are usually better than foreign made. There are some things made out of the country that are good. Like my Nikon camera and lenses. I find it hard to find shoes and clothes made in America, but we do have some. I think it is hard to find a car better than a Cadillac if you want a luxury car. I prefer trucks myself. I have a GMC Canyon at this time. The leather interior and all the electronics it is hard to believe it is a truck. It rides good, has a six cylinder engine, and gets 21 or more miles to the gallon on the highway, 18 and 19 in the city. Speedometer goes to 140MPH. No I haven’t gone much over 80 to get on the highway and then set the speed 75 just 5 over the speed limit. Two passengers in front, three in back, comfortable. No snow in Florida, but I have 4 wheel drive if I want to use it.

My point is that I will not limit my options merely for the sake of “buying American.” In fact, when I purchase something, I don’t check to see where it was made. All that matters to me is, “Is it a great product?” and “Am I willing to pay this price?”
