Actually, if the primary intent is to bring the issue of police brutality, racism, and murder to the forefront of the public discourse, then "Defund the Police" as a catch phrase has done its job quite well.
Maestro proposes a namby-pamby inoffensive alternative, which, like many before it, would generate little attention and ultimately fail to gain traction and fix what's broken.
I admit that "streamline" isn't ideal. But it's better than one that so easily gives a false impression. Part of the problem that some on the left, not all, and not the average voter, but some, is that they seem to find the need to get people that don't already agree with them to actually agree with them distasteful. They don't want "those people" to actually come around and and agree with them. They like being separate. So, you get a preference for slogans that divide, rather than explain. Driving away the unilluminated, highlighting (and therefore encouraging) the difference between those pitiful souls and themselves becomes part of the point, if not the whole point.

Your "Streamline" proposal will probably be as big a flop as the Chrysler Airflow car of the 30's.
Nuff said.

This is evidence of what I was talking about.

How about we defund farm, defense contractor and oil subsidies? Greg If it's in the budget, it would be cut 10%. Everything means everything. Everyone gets to feel the pain.

Defunding the police will never happen. The vast majority of Americans say HELL NO!

My preference is no, absolutely no, zero, zilch defunding of our police and a 10% ta cut across the board of our entire budget. Yes, that includes the military, and any other favorite project of yours (my favorite budget cause is the military. We need them). Of course that also would include welfare which definitely is not my favorite drain of the budget. I don't know if Congress is listed in the budget, but cut their pay 10% also. That would be a start. Some of the arguments for defunding include using funding to bring unarmed trained facilitators to things like domestic disputes or crime scenes that have already occurred, rather than fully armed quasi-soldiers anticipating and brimming for violence. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Perhaps you've never been involved in going to a domestic disturbance home. There very easily could be armed bad guys there. There definitely is anger involved either on one side or the other or both sides. The person going there really has no idea what he's walking into. Facillitator schmillitator. A lot of the time it's way past "discussion" time.
