For those voting for Biden:
If he wins, what do you think should be his policy toward the official presidential Twitter account?
And please, something beyond "Not whatever Trump did!" I get that and I agree with you.
But in a more practical sense. How should he use it? Should he personally compose all tweets? Should his staff do some while he does others? Should he compose all tweets, but first run them through his communications team? Should the communications staff compose the tweets as they do the speeches, essentially turning the account into a "White House" account rather than a President Biden account?
There can be no doubt that Twitter can be a very powerful way for the president to get his message out directly to the people without the filter of the press. How do you suggest a hypothetical President Biden use it?

Personally I'd like to see twitter disappear into the failed trash heap of history where it belongs. I hope Biden never uses it a single time. And I wish Trump couldn't ... because it makes journalists exhausting and boring.
I'm not voting for Biden. I might vote 3rd party, but I definitely won't vote for a Democrat. (I prefer honest opposition rather than opposition that lies to you about agreeing with you while opposing you at every turn.)
But if Biden is president, twitter will no longer be a part of presidential politics. He'll use it like Obama does. Vanilla posts on non controversial issues that draw no attention and nobody cares about.

I think its great - it bypasses the legacy media...I often shake my head at some of trumps tweets - but I know how he is feeling. I don't care if its from biden or his staff...its the same team.
The media has failed so so miserably...they are truly a joke. There is no longer journalism...they are simply ad agencies.

I would prefer it go unused.

I would prefer it go unused. This is for all three of you. You know, I started writing this post to criticize the stance you three have taken as a bit luddite-ish, but as I started putting my thoughts together and writing my response, I actually began to see your point. Right now, we do have a White House twitter account and a presidential twitter account. The WH one is the more formal stuff while the presidential one is...well, we know what that is. Ranting mostly. I'd like to see it become something else, but I suppose Biden (if he wins) might opt to stick with the WH one and drop the presidential one. Perhaps Trump has tainted the idea of personal presidential tweeting too much for it to be an effective tool anymore. And perhaps personal tweeting isn't really that appropriate. I'll have to think about it some more.

Seems to me that you're assuming that Biden knows what Twitter is. In all seriousness. I'm not certain that he does or that he will know when/if he is elected (God forbid) POTUS.

There's an official Biden Twitter account, so somebody connected to his campaign knows about it. If you want to assume he's ignorant, that's fine, but my question still stands. How should his administration use Twitter if he wins?

I don't use Twitter. Never have, don't know if I ever will. Since I don't use it, I don't know how Biden should use it or even if he should. I do know that President Trump seems to have used it very effectively. He has taken out a lot of third person interpretations regarding what he thinks about any subject. That's got to pixx off the supposed news channels.

Sure Honey .. That 'third person' is the fact checker .. Of course Trump wants to bypass them..

You can read stories about his tweets, which have the embedded quotes in them, without using the service.

The main problem isn't that there is a presidential twitter account.
The main problem is that it's Trump doing the presidential tweeting.
I fully expect him to continue with his irrational tweeting after Biden is inaugurated 2-20-21. Because it will be about all he can do while he's shitting bricks.
