The thing with this is, it's not just the swearing and the accusatory remarks against certain students. It wouldn't be ok if he were totally polite. During class instructional time, a public school teacher has a captive audience of minors that are legally required to stay in the room and treat him with deference. The school has the legal authority to punish students for not following through on those requirements. That makes it immoral for a teacher to take advantage of that tremendous power imbalance to preach his partisan political views. The students cannot freely leave. They cannot freely tell the teacher he is wrong They cannot freely call the teacher a fool, tell the teacher to shut up, or to f-off with his ideas. A teacher preaching his partisan political views to a legally captive audience of minors is abusing them and needs to stop or be stopped. |
