Companies routinely expand and often downsize. Or sell off or close on performing divisions

Govt at the federal level where there are no budget constraints grows like a virus. There is no measurement of performance. They just keep expanding. Departments like education, energy. Even the govt accountability office has stated there really are no metrics to measure their effectiveness. They just keep getting bigger

Look at the dept of education. It’s almost in inverse relationship. The larger they have become the worse schools have done. More and more tax funds go to feed the administrative beast and not towards grass roots education.

Dept of energy. Same thing.

Interestingly both of these departments began under Carter, one of our worst presidents.

It’d be interesting to see what happens if trump starts making large cuts to an entity like the pentagon or fbi. Will they all of a sudden rear up and say no, you can’t do that.
