Perhaps it is fair to say that Trump isn't a fascist as much as he simply isn't a liberal, in the classic sense. And honestly, that's pretty bad all on it's own. If people want to know what could potentially happen here, they should look at Hungary, Turkey, or Poland a few years ago.
It's not going to be Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy.

He's a narcissist with some autocratic tendencies and no real program.
I've thought he's a fascist for the past five years or so. And I've increasingly felt that way the more of his rallies I see. He admires dictators, pretends to be a tough guy, his main schtick is immigration and the economy (the same two things Hitler raged about prior to becoming Chancellor). He continually stirs up and stokes an "us versus them" mindset. He instructs his followers to hate the things he tells them to hate. He's invented a sub culture full of symbolism that supports and even idolizes him (red hats, trump flags, all the gimcracks he continually hawks). He exhorts his supporters to support him or else they will "lose your country" or be invaded by immigrants, or that Democrats kill babies after they're born. He's a pathological liar with the support of a major television network spewing his nonsense twenty four hours a day.......yeah, I think he's a fascist. I think people that support him are just ignorant or they're fascists, too. Not only is he a fascist, he's an old crazy fascist. Danger Will Robinson! |
