Hurricane Milton, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday afternoon as a Tropical Storm, strengthened into a Category 1 on Sunday. As CBS News reports, it's projected to make landfall by Wednesday as a Category 3 hurricane along the west coast of Tampa, Fla.
In an advisory on Sunday evening, National Hurricane Center (NHC) meteorologists said Milton is traveling across the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico toward Florida. An east-northeastward motion is forecast on Monday before the storm is expected to speed up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
