Reality ... trumps ... manufactured reality. Every time.
Dawn Allen wasn’t just a voting booth Democrat — she knocked on doors and donated money, including to President Joe Biden.
But after her son died from fentanyl poisoning last year, she grew frustrated by what she viewed as Biden’s hands-off approach to the opioid crisis. Now she says she won’t vote for a Democrat, and she finds herself more in line with the candidate who has focused sharply on the deadly fentanyl epidemic: former President Donald Trump.
“It feels like a really bad breakup,” the 47-year-old mother of three other children said from her home in a Chicago suburb. “I’m really, really hurt.”

Shutdown that border. And drug dealers selling killing drugs, when arrested, they get the death sentence for murder. Start deporting. And all will get better. Close investigation, because I do not doubt that some of those border jumpers may be good people with a good trade or education. They may be a good thing for the country, and want to be real Americans. The rest deport or just throw in the ocean.

Good night, Gym tomorrow. I went target practice this afternoon. I saw a lot of cars at the office. More people joining. A man at the range that I was shooting at, when I was leaving, he said. "Are you using a 22 again". I laughed and said "Yes, it is less expensive". And he said, "Tell me about it", and he laughed too.

This is called an anecdote, que. It's meaningless, unless it represents a large swath of people, and you have not shown that it does. Given we have 350 million people living in this country, there are bound to be those with every opinion imaginable, and hooray, you've found one. Using a data point that is this infinitesimally small, and extrapolating it as general 'reality', is EXTREMELY bad statistics. Like, cringe-worthy, its so totally inaccurate. But hey, you just keep bein' you, man. It appears the only thing you are good at. Freon

Thank goodness this stuff didn't happen when Donny was president. Remember when Republicans were all about taking personal responsibility? It wasn't that long ago.

I'm beginning to think you don't understand what's happening in this thread...
(Of course that's it. You never understand what's happening on the boards lol) Don't you have a meme for these kinds of occasions to put your ignorance in pictograph form?

Border fentanyl amounts do not compare with that entering the US in shipping crates via Ports. The Republicans were handed the best border bill and failed to pass it so Trump could run on that. The Republicans and their sick cult in Congress are responsible. I’m sorry this lady lost her child; but she is angry at the wrong side.

It is interesting that this subject is being discussed under the framing of "Trump's reality vs manufactured reality" and never once is the reality of the failure of the Trump admin on this issue brought up. Let's look at the facts. Between 2016 and 2020, annual drug overdose deaths from synthetic opioids (excluding methadone) increased by 192% (from 19,500 to 56,894), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC data also show: - The average annual growth rate of drug overdose deaths from synthetic opioids was 31% while Donald Trump was president. - Between 2019 and 2020, the last year of Trump’s presidency, the increase in drug overdose deaths from synthetic opioids was 55%. - Between 2020 and 2021, the first year of Joe Biden’s presidency, the increase in drug overdose deaths from synthetic opioids was 25%. www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2023/03/02/synthetic-opioid-overdose-deaths-soared-while-trump-was-president/The fentanyl problem exploded under the Trump admin, with increasing deaths every year of his admin. We can try to manufacture the impression that Trump is better on fentanyl but it's not evident in the data.

No worries, after Trump wins the election, the crisis will end.
I feel bad for these folks but blaming the federal gov't for someone's O.D.?
If Trump had been in power these past four years I'm guessing she'd be blaming him.
This is more about blame assignment than actual policy differences, IMO.
Not sure how the fed can ever stop smuggling. If throwing people in jail worked, we'd be a drug free society. Instead, it gets worse. There's too much money to be made from the demand side of the equation. :/

It's not about results. It's about goals.
The Democrats, as she argues, give zero shits about it. At least Trump has focus on it.
That's her view. Not mine. That's her reality. Not mine.
How much of that increase can be laid directly at the feet of opposition to Trump's commitment to taming our southern border? How much of the massive increases in 2020 and beyond can be laid at the feet of that untamed border allowing unchecked smuggling to occur?

Just like all the crises that are going to end as soon as we put Democrats in power amirite?!
Like healthcare! Inflation! Overseas military adventurism! All these things the Democrats will fix. THIS time. We just have to let them have another crack at it. C'mon Charlie Brown. Just one more kick and you're gonna score a goal! Queshank
