A record number of firms plan to cut advertising spending on X next year because of concerns that extreme content on the platform could damage their brands, dealing another blow to the financial fortunes of Elon Musk’s social media company.
A global survey by market research firm Kantar found that a net 26% of marketers plan to decrease their spending on X in 2025, the biggest recorded pullback from any major global ad platform.

The only way to change how they operate…by allowing lies.

It’s a sharp and focused strategy.
How should we deal with other Sacred Institutions who deliberately lie?
Or with phone companies that allow people to tell lies over the phone?

If only we could establish a disinformation governance board inside homeland security. Then government could ensure ONLY the truth is carried by media.

First of all, phones are not even remotely the same as social media networks. A lie over a phone impacts only the other party on the other side, but a social network lie impacts millions. So strawman on that one. But advertising is voluntary, and if companies believe that X is a liability, then they can, and should, stop investing in that liability. I really don't see an issue here. If X loses advertising, and advertising is its primary form of income, then X must either attract the type of people that advertisers want, or lose money and eventually fail. It's just capitalism. Simple supply and demand working exactly as it should. Freon
