The interview w Harris and Walz

Dear media,
Please stop talking about the “stakes” of Kamala’s interview as if this is, will be, or should be some kind of significantly impactful moment in the trajectory of this race.
That might be true if we were talking about a “normal” election.
It might be true if she were running against a “normal” candidate.
A single interview might be a difference maker if she were running against a Jeb Bush.
She’s not.
She’s running against a twice impeached, adjudicated rapist, business fraud and 34-times convicted felon who incited a violent attack on our Capitol when he lost the office he is once again inexplicably seeking.
He tried to upend democracy.
He tried to throw away our votes.
He wanted his VP to be hanged.
He got people killed.
Not to mention all the ways he tried to cheat to reverse his loss.
Not to mention the Big Lie he’s been pushing since 2020, and how damaging that has been.
Not to mention how he stole our national security secrets and kept them in his fucking bathroom.
Not to mention that we are still, as we speak, talking about the fact that he just smiled for the cameras with his fucking thumbs up for a campaign video while standing on the sacred ground where our nation’s warriors were laid to rest.
I know you want a horse race. I know you want your clicks and your ratings.
I know it’s all about dollar bills, and not democracy.
But what you’re doing, by painting all of this as a conventional election, when it’s anything but, is a disservice to the American people and a discredit to your industry.
An interview of a woman who has dutifully served this country without so much as the hint of scandal doesn’t even remotely stack up in terms of consequential circumstances when her opponent is a convicted felon who tried to overthrow our government four short years ago.
Stop normalizing him.
Stop downplaying who he is, what he’s done, and what he is threatening to do.
Frame this election with honesty and integrity.
For fuck’s sake.
