Here is the Wall Street Journal article.
What do we get out of this other than tying ourselves down in a region that we should working to extricate ourselves from?

I’m sure there will be money tied to this and I’m sure some politicians will get big fat donations to their family foundations. Recall when the saudis gave 10 mill to the Clinton foundation. Doing these deals with foreign entities is simply a way to play shell games with taxpayer money, some percent which makes its way back into politicians pockets.

Remind me again how much the Saudis gave Jared Kushner. Greg

Greg when you put money into your bank or invest in a company, are you giving that money to a ban employee? Now if you give money to a family foundation, based out of Canada, that’s what a political shell game looks like. A president cuts oil production or refining, opec raises prices and makes record profits, opec member donates huge sums to politicians family foundation.

The Saudis gave Jared Kushner 2 BILLION dollars. Kushner got ar least 25 million a year in fees and interest. Ya dig? Greg

Meh, I can see trying to undermine China's economic expansion but another part of me says, let China and Russia deal with it. The KSA is the exact opposite of the kind of state we are, and coming to their defense makes me wanna throw up.

If China wants to paint a target on its back by putting bases in Saudi Arabia, let them become the object of terrorist and fundamentalist ire. But I don't think they want to do that (they already have bases in the region, such as in Djbouti).
So, we're handcuffed to defending the Saudis and their interests for little to nothing in return.

Agree. Rest assured, in a few years the saudis will make another multimillion dollar donation to a top politicians family foundation. This is the political money shell game. Vote for massive money to go overseas in these bills and some percent filters back to the politicians.
