You hit the nail on the head. Some here claim they did the best they could with the information they had. I’d disagree on many things - true science knew in absolutely no uncertain terms much of what was being said was a lie. Then you had arbitrary rules. That made no sense. And when challenged they would not answer or tell you to basically shut up. The reporting of those traveling across state borders. Most all confidence was lost. No, no one knew for sure and I still don’t think they know for sure. So to say something is absolutely true or absolutely false would be a disservice. Right, but they straight up said or implied that they knew for sure. That's what Francis Collins was saying he/they did wrong.

I never got the impression that they knew for sure. The virus was new and something we never experienced before. But there are always people who can’t think for themselves and need people to tell them what to do

Im the past few years I’m seeing my country act much more like countries we always mocked. Ussr, Cuba. Etc ....mine's turning in to yours! I can argue healthcare both ways. The problem I have in the us is pretty much everything govt does is inefficient and bad. Lobbysists get involved and corruption is rampant. Let me ask - if all restaurants were owed by govt, would food be less expensive and better. Would choice and options be better? I think we would all answer no. It would suck. When I went thru cancer, I had an option to be treated in Canada. I won’t go into details. But I was treated immediately (24 hours) in the states and Canada would have taken 4 plus months to get started. I would have been dead.

So you will continue to base your whole premise on things that have come and gone and we all got over. How are things for you now in 2024. Better? COVID is gone, the whole world has opened up. Shit happens. The resilent get over it and move on. Only idiot stay in one place. I had dinner last pm with an older gentleman and his son. They had several successful restaurants over a thirty plus year period. They are all closed now. 100 percent due to authoritarian mandates that were not applied to the national chains. A life’s work gone. You idiots wonder why the Fortune 500 are doing ok and inflation is out of control. It was due to govt payback to lobbysists and crushing small businesses. You don’t even know what fascism looks like. Govt colluding with big companies. You are talking to a brick wall.

Yet US healthcare, macro level, is both more expensive and worse than that of other developed nations. That's not an opinion. That's counting.

That's what happens when you let private interests take precedence over everything. The only ones that benefit from that are a handful of super rich bastards that have nothing to worry about because they'll get treatment abroad.
