Last month, on Oct. 15, the Iowa women’s basketball team made history by breaking the all-time attendance record for a women’s hoops game. More than 55,000 people attended the team’s exhibition against DePaul, as the game was held at the school’s football stadium. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of women’s Stu college basketball and, especially in Iowa, the superstar status of Hawkeye star Caitlin Clark.
The event also raised more than $250,000 for the children’s hospital that is right next to the stadium.
