Both involve the dehumanization and devaluation of a human being....a disregard for a life. Both abortion and slavery were established in law and made legal and binding through SCOTUS decisions. Both slavery and abortion were argued to be private matters and no one else's business. Both slavery and abortion were said to be the best outcome for the victim. Both slavery and abortion are rooted in greed, narcissism and personal power. In both, rights and freedoms were denied to the victims. And both slavery and abortion were, in their own times, controversial and divisive topics. Slavery then was not universally condemned as it is now; abortion is also a much disagreed upon topic today, while in the future, if we are lucky, abortion will strike future generations as abhorrent, primitive, cruel and immoral, just as we all see slavery today.
And now, the differences. Slavery was exceedingly horrific and evil, but in the U.S., was not structured to kill a victim of the onerous practice. Every abortion, by design, kills a human being. No exceptions. The number of slaves killed in the entirety of the institution's existence in North America in minuscule compared to the abortion deaths here in the last 50 years. No Thor. At that time the south was running a lot better than the north because of better politicians and commerce. The north depended on a lot of things that the south was smart enough to import. He didn’t know what to do with them. The southern generals and fighting men were all just as American as you. Even today, things are not perfect in many ways. But at that time in history because of our politicians and laws it was not illegal. And it was going on from the beginning of time, and not all slaves were of the black race. The losers were the slaves. The civil war is our history. The history of the greatest country on earth. And so long as it is taught about the history of it. Modern educated good people would not let it happen again. If somehow Iran ever overtakes this country, anyone not of their religion will be slaves or dead. It goes on and on.
