Paul McCartney is a guest performer on one of the Stones’ upcoming songs. Elton John and Lady Gaga, too. Interesting. Even back in the day there were some very minor collaborations bought a Rolling Stones album in years. My two favorites are from the late 1960s-- Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed. Most excellent. I just found out that Mick Jagger was the person who inducted the Beatles into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. George Harrison and Ringo Starr were there. Unfortunately, Paul McCartney didn’t attend because he had a disagreement with his two former band mates.

I'm glad you started this thread. Seeing the "Beatles" caught my eye. I forget there's other forums sometimes.
I have to echo everything MFA and pariah have said in this thread. Specifically pariah's opinion on "The Who." I agree.
One thing I disagree on with Mercy ...
I can name 5 Rolling Stones songs. I just can't name 5 *good* Rolling Stones songs. (PadoombishAHHH!)
One fascinating thing I've noticed over years of discussing this very question with bandmates and music fan friends. "Conservatives" tend to lean Rolling Stones.
"Liberals" tend to lean Beatles.
I can say that that is 100% accurate in my community.

Okay, admission time: I always liked the Beatles, but I never really got into the Rolling Stones until my aunty took us to see them at an IMAX show when I was about 16 or 17. By the time the film was done, I was a big fan of their songs like “Start Me Up,” “Honky Tonk Women” and “Tumbling Dice.” Seeing awesome rock and roll on the IMX screen was quite an experience! That really was my introduction to the band.
I have two Beatles “Greatest Hits” CDs: one with a blue cover and another with a red cover.

I think the supposed competition between the two groups back in the day was more of a pr thing than anything else. Yeah, I guess there was still some bad blood between them. George is dead, so he's out of the picture. I think Ringo and Paul get along pretty well nowadays. We all need someone we can lean on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

The Stones just released a new single, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” and it’s pretty awesome! It’s amazing how fresh they sound, even atbtheir ripe old age. This song features Lady Gaga on vocals and Stevie Wonder on piano.

The Beatles and the Rolling Stones play entirely different music.
I happen to like both, but ... not both at once...
