Currently watching an old DVD about the Shackleton Expedition to the South Pole.
About 1/2 of the way through it.
Narrated by Liam Neeson, it describes the expedition that began in 1914, just prior to the outbreak of WWI. The Endurance describes the travails, wth the ship getting caught and crushed in the Antarctic ice pack.

I'm not certain that nobody knew about the Shackleton expedition. However, most of Europe and the USA was pre-occupied by WWI.

Finished watching "The Endurance". I've had this DVD for about 20 years, and have watched it before. But not for at least 10 years or more.
I enjoyed it.

As for most people not knowing anything about Shackleton, I was referring to the WWI era when the first world war took great precedence over Shackleton's expedition. I'm not as stupid as Billy, after all.
