So, next December, I am going on a much needed vacation to... Italy. Right now, the plan is to go to Rome, Florence, and Naples/Pompeii.
Before I go somewhere I generally like to read things about where I'm going, so I'm seeking book recommendations for things to read between now and then.
To save any possible duplication, here some books on my shelves that I haven't read and will be pulling out soon:
Be Like the Fox: Machiavelli and His World by Erica Brenner
Machiavelli: A Life Beyond Ideology by Paul Oppenheimer
Florentine Histories by Niccolo Machiavelli
The Fate of Rome: Climate, Disease, and the End of an Empire by Kyle Harper
Rubicon: The Last Years of the Roman Republic by Tom Holland
Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy by Jacob Burckhardt
Thanks in advance.
