It's been out for almost 20 years, but still relevant in the midst of all this Indoctrination talk. "Throughout the movie, there are cut scenes to a debate between Fischer and Mike Papantonio, an attorney and a radio talk-show host for Air America Radio's Ring of Fire. Papantonio questions Fischer's motives for focusing her ministry efforts on children. Fischer explains that she does not believe that people are able to choose their belief system once they pass childhood, and that it is important that they be "indoctrinated" in evangelical Christian values from a young age. Fischer also explains that democracy is flawed and designed to destroy itself "because we have to give everyone equal freedom"' Ya gotta indoctrinate those kids in childhood;otherwise, they ain't gonna believe in fairy tales. Fischer explains that she does not believe that people are able to choose their belief system once they pass childhood, and that it is important that they be "indoctrinated" in evangelical Christian values from a young age. If she really believes that, she’s stupid. You can choose your “belief system” at any age, and at any stage in life. I know many people who didn’t turn to Jesus until they were adults. The Apostle Paul actually persecuted Christians before coming to know God. Also, believing in God at a young age doesn’t mean you won’t turn against God later in life. Salvation is a choice, and you can lose it if you don’t guard your heart and mind against Satan. I know many people who were baptized as children and committed their hearts to The Lord, but then they fall away as they get older. Sad to say, some of them never return. One more point: Telling people - children or adults - about God and the Bible isn’t about indoctrination. It’s not brainwashing. We do it because we *LOVE* them, and we know that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. We know that the Bible is God’s Living Word. Jesus gave us His “Great Commission” to spread His Word.

What exactly does "nominally Christian, atheist, or Muslim" mean?

Nominal: being such in name only; so-called; putative (from dictionary.com). A “nominal Christian” is someone who is “Christian in name only.” Do you really need a definition of Muslim or atheist?

One of our past elders of our church grew up as a buddhist. In fact, several members came from buddhist families. I don’t know about Canada, but Hawaii has a pretty big buddhist population.

Yep, there's no need to indoctrinate anyone unless you have some sort of hidden agenda. Little harm comes from convincing a kid that a fairy will bring them money if they'll just stop crying and let you pull the tooth hanging by a thread of skin, while horrendous harm comes from hitler types out to commit genocide. This Jesus camp thing can only make people out for the latter.

Some indoctrination can be an incidental part of education, just growing up, or all in some easily shed childhood fun, such as a fat man in a chariot delivering presents to every kid on earth in one night. As opposed to indoctrination for control and manipulation. This type of indoctrination is everywhere today. Our unbiased just the facts tv news has become entertainment designed to manipulate people into opposing parties.

I missed what? A phrase in response to my post? A post to which I haven’t responded? This is the first instance of “control and manipulation” being mentioned, so what is it you’re suggesting I “missed”? Like…are you suggesting I should have anticipated what would be posted “in the future” and respond to it, so I wouldn’t “miss” what hadn’t yet been said?
