In 1985, during the height of popularity of USA for Africa’s “We are the World,” a group of Hawaii recording artists decided to contribute their own song to the cause. Among the popular performers were Henry Kapono, Nohelani Cypriano, Roland Cazimero, Danny Kaleikini, Na Leo o Pilimehana, Karen Kaweahawaii and others.
For those of you who used to spend time in Hawaii in the old days, how many folks do you recognize in this video?

I think it was Britain's "Do They Know It's Christmas" that started this trend.

Speaking of alive and sober, I vaguely remember spending a LOT of time and money at some joint called "The Lolipop Lounge" back then. Fond memories.... What I have of them anyways... Greg

Here is Canada’s song. It’s very pretty. I thought I saw Paul Shaffer in the crowd, and yeah, he's in the list, but wait, what? John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Catherine O'Hara? Why did I not know they were in that? Wayne Gretzky!?

Greg He definitely was alive then. I’m not sure how relevant he was by then though.
