In the early 2000s, when Bryan Danielson was building a name for himself on the independent circuit, he used to come out to Europe’s “The Final Countdown.” The fans loved this entrance.
Flash forward to yesterday’s “Forbidden Door” PPV. The veteran Danielson is now considered perhaps the best wrestler in the world, and one of the greatest of all time. Before his main event match against another all-time great, Japan’s Kazuchika Okada, Danielson was introduced to the sold-out crowd. For the first time in 14 years, his entrance song was “The Final Countdown.”
Promoter Tony Khan wanted to add a special touch to this historic, first-time matchup. He paid six figures for the right to use the song for one night. Danielson was pretty moved, and the crowd popped. It was awesome.
