Canadian perspective, one of my favourite covers that I surpasses the original:
Original—Bruce Cockburn (Lovers in a Dangerous Time):
Hey, it's a decent enough song (lyrics in the song were referenced by U2 in God Part II), and Cockburn is a great lyricist. Just a bit too "folky" for my taste.

I know Carole King is a legend, but there’s something about Caroline Burns’ version of “So Far Away” that I love. It sounds so sweet and pure.
