Well, ABC was showing some of the damage on the evening news just now; looks cataclysmic. Our disasters out here tend to be of the hot, dry, and shaky variety. Until a dam bursts in a big quake, that is. Stay safe! quakes are a little harder to sit back and enjoy and a lot scarier. I've got some good hurricane stories. Mostly they are not much of a problem until they are over, then there's the clean up and this time a busted bridge. based on the last time it could be a year before we get our 3.5 mile access to Pensacola back. Depends on the quake size and duration. I've been through a lot of them, but most all have been relatively minor. Oddly, at times, I feel like a quake is about to hit, but of course it never does. They are nearly always unexpected.
When I was a kid we lived in hurricane country. I remember the wind howling and trees looking like palm trees, they were getting whipped around so much. Now I live in an area with real palm trees, and they are overrated.

Over 20 barges loaded with huge upright cranes and stacks of 80 ft concrete pilings loose on escambia Bay almost destroyed the completed 4 lane south bound span of the brand new bridge and damaged the under construction north bound section, as well as docks, seawalls and even homes all around the bay.
Allright guys, it's Friday and a hurricane is on the way, why don't y'all knock off early and go home. Don't forget to take in the lawn furniture, it's going to blow. Things here should be fine, besides act of God damages just extend our contract, so more taxpayer money for us

Never heard of pindo palms. There's a palm tree down the block from here. It's very tall.

I don't do jelly any more.
Too many carbs.

I'm sure it does.
Might be too cold here for that tree. We do get some frosty mornings in the winters here.
I do have a fig tree that gives delicious fruit. At least what the birds don't grab.
