Why am I the last to know about this one? I had no idea Gérard Depardieu played Inspector Maigret last year. Gotta catch this one on Netflix.
I'm still a BIG fan of the Rowan Atkinson version of Maigret.
Of course, who can top Jean Gabin?
Greg
PS. A little something extra for Dave.

I had no Idea that thé French commissaire was so popular outside of thé hexagon (one of several fond names for France). You might want to try thé Books too. I have them all. Simenon (thé author) is a wonderful writer. Also you could try watching thé duology "Jean de Florette" "Manon des Sources" with Yves Montand and Depardieu. Great drama ,with murder, deception, betrail, revenge, unrequited love...

Also, you may want to try "Le Clan Des Siciliens"... Fantastic... Gabin speaks three languages with nary an accent... Plus there's Alian Delon (you about him don't you?) and Lino Ventura (also quasi a legend).
Try this for size:

You know that if you can think back and remember when you paid to see Alain Delon in a movie at a theatre in the United States. I saw Alain Delon, Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune in "Red Sun" at the Embassy Theatre in Cleveland Ohio in 1972. Yeah, we go back... Greg

Not really. I misspelled three words. My excuse is that it's been about 50 years since I took a French class. So sous me!

Greg Do you remember the early 1990's PBS Maigret starring Michael Gambon? My wife and I watched that series on PBS Thursday night for its duration. www.imdb.com/title/tt0107221/
