Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not much of a steak eater. But today I had the best steak I have ever tasted!
I was blessed to be able to attend a private lunch in downtown Honolulu. Several top corporate execs from the business and financial fields were there. We pre-ordered from a menu, and I wound up choosing the ribeye steak (the other options were seafood things). I swear, it was so juicy and tender, it seemed to melt in my mouth! Dessert was pretty good, too. I had a sorbet that was made at this gourmet place that only opens twice a week. (Or so we were told.)
What is your favorite red meat?
Steak? (And if so, what kind) Prime rib? Something else?
Personally, no meat is as tasty as a good old-fashioned bacon cheeseburger. With thick-cut fries, of course.

You'll probably get your best steak somewhere in Argentina.

You'll probably get your best steak somewhere in Argentina. Then I’ll never get it. Don’t cry for me.

I'm a Prime Rib man my dear. I'm curious, where downtown did you have this delicious piece of meat?

Hard to beat a nicely prepared, medium rare steak.
My current fave is to pour honey all over the steak, rub it in real well, then put coarse black pepper all over it and slap on grill.

I grew up not liking steak because my mom would pan-fry steak well done. Like...very well done.
Then on a trip to Argentina, we were served steak medium rare. No option, that's how they served it. Incredible.

The best cut of beef is called (in French) "L'araignée" it's not only delicious, but it's also quite rare, with only a few hundred grams in an entire beef. It's also called "the butcher's cut" because butchers often keep it for themselves. It's very good but it's way too tender for my taste. I guess you appreciate it best when you no longer have your teeth. I for one as someone with perfect teeth (so far) prefer meat with a little more resilience but to each their own. There's also Kobe beef.

Honey on steak? That is really interesting! They (sometimes) put honey on pork in luaus. At least the ones I've been to.

I like a good rib eye steak, cooked, yup, medium rare. But I've noticed how the prices have surged in the past couple of years.

Where was that?
Right now chicken prices have soared, especially eggs, because of some sort of chicken ailment. Although I read recently that egg prices have started to drop a little. I bought some rib steaks at a grocery store a few weeks ago. Only $6/lb for rib eye steak. But unfortunately none of it was choice, not even select, so it's not so great. I wound up freezing most of it and am contemplating turning it into burgers.

South-centre of British Columbia. Just outside of the second-largest ranch in North America (the largest, of course, being in Texas). Friends were getting together to BBQ steaks and we thought, steaks? We can’t afford steaks! So we bought chicken and realized too late it was more expensive than the steak. We ate a lot of steak while we lived there.
