Just watched for the first time, on a local PBS TV channel, the movie "Space Balls".
It's written and directed by Mel Brooks, who also has a role in it.
I have to say I was a bit surprised by the degree of, well, Jewish humor. Or maybe it was Jewish-American humor. But then I realized that since Mel Brooks wrote it in the 1980's, I couldn't be that surprised by it.
That aside, it's a funny movie and reasonably well acted. The plot, such as it is, and as far as I can tell, is about a planet in the future, called "Spaceball", that is running out of air, and needs to import/steal air from the planet Druida to survive. Of course it's a ridiculous plot but the acting is pretty good, considering they are mostly comedians in the real world.
Anyway, I give Spaceballs 3.5 out of 4 stars. Or close to that.

Is this the one with a short guy with a giant helmet? I've seen it a very long time ago. I barely remember it.

Yes, the "short guy with a giant helmet" is Rick Moranis, another Canadian comic.

It's a pretty funny movie. But over-rated. Not as funny as people make it out to be.
