Well... the good... they die young...
"A Minnesota biker who attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has died of covid-19 — the first fatality from the virus traced to the 10-day event that drew more than 400,000 to South Dakota. The man was in his 60s, had underlying conditions and was hospitalized in intensive care after returning from the rally, said Kris Ehresmann, infectious-disease director at the Minnesota Department of Health. The case is among at least 260 cases in 11 states tied directly to the event, according to a survey of health departments by The Washington Post.
Epidemiologists believe that figure is a significant undercount, due to the resistance of some rallygoers to testing and the limited contact tracing in some states. As a result, the true scope of infections stemming from the event that ran from Aug. 7 to Aug. 16 is unlikely to ever be known. Public health officials had long expressed concern over the decision to move forward with the annual event, believed to be the largest held anywhere in the U.S. since the pandemic shelved most large-scale gatherings."

One had died thus far. Any ideas of the total number of deaths as a result of the rally? Ballpark?

It could be 40,000 and Petey P would still scream it's all just a hoax and a massive conspiracy while hugging his Donnie Trump pillow.

Oh and van motorcycles, there may be a link to covid In his 60s with underlying health conditions. Probably should be avoiding massive bike rallies. Anyway, Greg can breathe again and focus on other aspects of life. I know he's been waiting quite anxiously for the first death linked to that rally. What a relief that it finally came!

"Underlying health conditions" Must be the 35+ BMI I saw numerous participants in the pictures having. Yup. Interesting how the derelict and untrustworthy media and health care bureaucracy have tragically undersold this point. One would think a responsible media and competent health care "experts" in the bureaucracy would be screaming every time a camera is pointed at them "Lose weight! COVID is far less dangerous if you're a healthy weight!" www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/08/obesity-metabolic-syndrome-tied-risk-covid-infection-severityBut that would be fat shaming and discriminatory. Unless it's directed at our fat slob president.

But I wasn't excited for it. Death comes for us all. I'm going to enjoy my time on earth.

I'm not "excited" for it either. I'm also not a fool. I'm going to continue to enjoy my time on earth, unlike the gent that just had a ball at Sturgis and now he's dead.

3 million Americans die every year. 60 million human beings globally. Causes beyond count. People who are overweight decrease their lifespan by potentially decades, yet Americans continue to over-consume. And that includes a significantly increased likelihood of dying from COVID. Time is short. Get busy livin', or...

Do you advocate for 5mph speed limits on all roads? And if not, how would you address the families of the 10s of thousands of people who die in accidents above 5mph? Please try to be as succinct as possible, but recognize that these families are under a lot of stress and heartache right now.

Lol. Holy shit. Let me go with the opposite extreme. Let's say that you had a 100% chance of making it to 89 years old in good health if you never hugged your son again or had any physical contact or ever went within 10 feet of him. Ever. Not ever. And then let's say that you had a 95% chance of making it to 89 years old in good health if you keep hugging your son and continued visiting with him throughout. What decision would you make? I know what choice I would make, and it wouldn't take me a tenth of a second to consider it. They have large segments of the population fearful of human contact. I never would have expected it to take hold so completely in so many people. 15 days has become half a year. A measurable amount of time on earth for a human being. I probably have 40-45 years with my kids, at best? Maybe a lot less if a bus hits me? I'm not going to hole up and make them suffer because I'm scared, particularly when I don't fall into the high risk demographics. And when I'm 80, you can be damn sure I won't ask kids and young adults to give up a huge portion of their most care-free and formative time because of my fear.

… and Herman Cain is still dead. I'd say he made a poor decision. Just like this biker.

Herman Cain lived a full life. Weird dude, but I have little doubt that he died with very little if any regret in his heart.

Well, here's Greg's philosophy about how to live a long life.
"DDSS". (DON'T DO STUPID SHIT).
Like... Going to a motorcycle rally during a pandemic..... Or.... attending a political rally with no PPE during the same pandemic...
Stupid shit... Could be fatal...

Some people die going skiing. Plenty die on roadways. Some die scuba diving. Some die from alligators. People make decisions on how they want to manage risk in a risky world. Being paralyzed through fear and living a biologically sustainable but fungus-style life locked in a home has its own risks. Would you say you are in optimal health for your age? And if not, would you say that breaks your DDSS philosophy?
