... are found in Belgium.
Admit it. You thought I was going to say "France", didn't you?
Belgium is an amazing country, it's so small that you can cross it by car in a couple of hours (I never tried it, but I am sure it's doable), yet it manages to be great at so many things. Like for example chocolate, the Belgians make the best in the world, better than the Swiss one and yet theirs is already top notch. Their beer is incredible and they have so many it's mind boggling. There is a store close to where I live (In France) that specializes in Belgian beers and you wouldn't believe how many there are. So many that in the store they have a system to classify their beers, reminiscent of your Dewey Decimal System. (We don't use it. For some time I thought you guys were talking about the duodecimal system and wondered what the fuck you were talking about)
Anyway, the Belgians make also the best French fries in the world, better than ours, although some here would get angry if they knew I said that.
But there is one thing that the Belgians are truly masters of and it's the art of comic strips making.
Do I need to tell you about Tintin for example?
The list is endless and though most of the best ones are translated in English, there are still many that aren't.
The most famous?
Asterix, Lucky Luke, Achille Talon, Les Tuniques Bleues, Corto Maltese, Valérian et Laureline, Jonathan, Bob Morane, Gil Jourdan, Tif et Tondu, Alix.
And many others...
Don't look for "superheroes" because you won't find any.
I wonder. Do you guys know of these or is it the first time you've read these names (with the possible exception of Tintin and maybe Asterix, I presume)?
