It’s odd how oil rich ven is now oil starved. So much for nationalizing oil and sharing the wealth. That was the socialist promise.
They probably didn’t implement it correctly. It’d work here.

Wait, aren't you constantly touting the impact of U.S. sanctions in devastating Iran's economy, now you're blaming socialism (even though Iran is not socialist)? Which is it?

The decline of Iran’s dollar over the past 20 years is there for all to see. And when it happened.
I just find it odd ven needs their oil.

"Ven" wasn't a typo; you're referring to Venezuela. Venezuela nationalized its oil industry in 1976 (gas in 1971), long before Chavez and Maduro. Venezuela's current issues have to do with losing expertise in extraction and production, not enough investment (also because losing foreign expertise), a decline in oil prices combined with increasing state expenditures, and sanctions. This is what the Forbes story is referring to about losing foreign expertise. The industry was already nationalized; Chavez just pushed out anyone who knew how to run it.

The US government is in so many wars that most Americans don't know about all of them (most of them?). It's just status quo. Things must be fine if we're not hearing about them. This is the state of journalism. Worse, this is the state of the minds of the people.

This is the state of journalism. Worse, this is the state of the minds of the people. Congress has actually tried to get us out of this one (Yemen) - to no avail. But yeah, we're in so many places that people don't know about. A lot of focus on Afghanistan and Iraq (rightfully so after 20 years), but we're doing a lot of stuff in a lot of places, and pretty much none of it has been authorized by Congress.

"We have some very good allies over there [Middle East]. And Israel of course. We help Israel a lot. We took out Soleimani. We took out... a lot of problems they were having over there or they would have without us. Without us, I don't think any of them would survive very long." - Donald Trump

Meanwhile, the UAE-Israel accord that Trumpers are crowing about?
The UAE is a major supplier of weapons and funds that keeps the carnage in Yemen going.
Plus the UAE has one of the most oppressive governments in the world. For example, married persons who have an extra-marital affair can get the death penalty.
Too bad Trump didn't live in UAE back when he was cheating on Melania with Stormy, eh?
