Quite a few useful phrases and specific words for food here are Norwegian. Which is probably why our football team is named the "Vikings". Although they don't win championships.

Lefse is a Norwegian cinnamon, sugar and butter mixture on baked flatbread. It's good!
Lutefisk is a messy fish concoction. It's horrible!
Uff da is a Norwegian phrase that means : oh my gosh, my oh my, really? and other useful similar expressions of surprise, astonishment, ruefulness and more. 😚

It does sound unappetizing.
I have been to Minnesota on business. Maybe that's where I heard of lutefisk.

I've always liked NPR and public radio in general. Morning Edition, Fresh Air, This American Life, Car Talk (my favorite), Marketplace, the weekend quiz and game shows, jazz and classical music. America would be a better place if people spent less time listening to the divisive political or the music industry pablum music stations, and instead tuned into NPR. It remains common ground. |

I'm a transplant, myself. It's where half of my kids reside. It is a state where they actually spend taxpayer dollars on taxpayers. Coming from Florida, that's a huge change for the better.
