I am pretty sure I've never seen this... movie. You could give us a hundred clues and it wouldn't make any difference. You're not helping this game by choosing moves no one has ever seen.

As I said, my movie has been deemed a new rule violation, please choose a new person to pick a movie. I already suggested whoever guessed Blazing Saddles was the closest. It also shares an actor.

It's logical that the movie behind all of Williams clues doesn't exist, even on TV.
Sad.

It's logical that the movie behind all of Williams clues doesn't exist, even on TV. Sad. Yep, it was all a lie designed by me to stress me out by having to come up with endless clues. I could be overreacting, but for what it's worth, let's do some laundry. I quit doing tantrums almost 70 years ago. If you see anything I've done here as a tantrum, please elaborate. Maybe you're right, if so I'll make amends. Here's what I see, hardly anyone was playing - possibly due to my movie choice, possibly just because nobody was playing. Your guesses Mary Poppins etc. didn't even consider the 25 clues I offered, but nothing wrong with being silly. Again, maybe because of my movie choice or maybe you weren't into the game at this point either. I've never seen Perfect Storm but I found it with Google. I checked first and knew that this movie could be found using Google and figured it wouldn't be that hard to find. After I said tv movie, you said that didn't count as a movie and you said, "Next". Doesn't "Next" mean game over, move on? It could even be seen as dismissive by some. I think that I have a reasonably thick skin and didn't see it that way, but understood that you wanted to move on. What possibly could have been wrong with you just starting a new movie, do as you said, "Next". As I see it this is your thread and you are free to make, change, revise, or enforce existing rules as you see fit. I had posted that I was about to give up the name and would have, but then in your next post, you said that I had to furnish the title or you wouldn't continue the thread. Isn’t "Do what I say or we don't play" the type of comment that most people consider as an ultimatum? I've never done well with ultimatums - it's a fault. I don't know you well enough to judge, but I would guess the same about you. Then you said I was having a tantrum and now saying that there wasn't even a movie seems a bit over the top, unless I'm misreading and you're just fucking with me. Who wins, who picks the next movie, do we quit every time no one answers after a certain number of clues? What about we impose on a 3rd party of your choice (ask Bama, ask Vrede - your choice) to look over the thread and 1) determine if I should revel the name, or if we should just go on to the next movie. (either way, you probably need to come up with rules for how to pick the next clue giver in a no winner situation) 2) offer an opinion about this supposed tantrum of mine - unless you were just fucking with me and I misunderstood. What's wrong with moving on, someone might try to solve it later, or wake up to a eureka moment in the middle of the night? Up to you, get someone to help sort this out, or don't, I'll still play. Clue #8,426 Bing Bell, Is that the door.

do you show your hand when everyone folds?
Please stop with the calling me a liar bullshit. You know me at least well enough to know that I don't.
I expected Google to cough it up. I guess 2 players just isn't enough.

I did this on my first "mystery" movie title, and have made it a new rule: After the puzzle is solved the puzzler should document each clue and how each clue is supported by the movie in the puzzle.
This will be easier for future puzzlers if you keep a list offline of your clues, as you post them, and how they are supported by the movie in question.
Also note that after everyone who is guessing gives up, the puzzler must reveal the name of the movie.
I've also stipulated that the movie should have received at least one industry award. This will help weed out the very obscure productions.
Thanks for understanding.

plus it's been 10 or 15 years since I've gone to a theater, so all my movie watching are now on tv.
Same amount of time I haven't been to a movie theater. But that doesn't mean I can't watch theatrical movie releases, on TV or via DVD. In fact most of my movie watching is on DVD, or on local PBS station movie nights (usually Saturday evenings in my location). Between 1970 and 1976 I watched little to no TV. Either I didn't have a TV or I had much better things to do (like get a university education). For me TV is either PBS movies/mini series or news shows. And of course, Colbert/Corden. I hate TV commercials, and audio of Trump (who is like a very bad TV commercial). Thank God for the mute button.

So kind of you to admit that I wasn't making up a movie or throwing any sort of tantrum. Thank you in advance. As I have said all along, your thread, you make the rules, we players may suggest, but it's your thread. Don't you still need a rule for advancing the game when everyone gives up? I would be glad to offer support from the movie for any of the clues I offered, they're all there. Just ask about any of them, or watch the movie. Yes, his new pen did slow the getaway. It's good stupid fun, with: John Astin Mickey Rooney Dick Shawn Henry Gibson Dom DeLuise Edie Adams Pamela Austin Milton Berle Pat Morita Billy Sands Milton Frome Pat Buttram - voice of the western Penny Marshall Ed Begley, Jr. I really thought that at least one of our contestants would have seen it, but apparently not. But Google finally came through. Not bad on user reviews but no industry awards. www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/460129/Evil-Roy-Slade/

And if you want to watch the movie, here it is. Watch it for fun, or for the clues. As I said, it's good stupid fun. I await your review.

Well, now, I made it through the Preview and the first 10 minutes or so of the "movie".
Two Three things:
1) Several clues clearly are evident in just the first 10 minutes. I think 10 minutes is more than enough. Maybe too much.
2) I sure am glad I wasn't watching TV back in 1972.
3) No need to explain any more clues. It's got to be one of the stupidest movies, TV or not, ever to waste film or video tape or whatever medium it was that was wasted upon it.

I figure this "movie" is just a figment of William's imagination. What am I being difficult about? I guess I don't understand. No one was guessing You said you were "done" I evidently broke a rule. I acquiesced, go ahead with your next movie. Assign the clue giver task as you feel necessary. Blazing Saddles was the closest, let that be the winner and move on. This is actually a fairly well known movie. Although I'm not surprised that you may not have seen it, I am surprised that no one else here has. But I'm being difficult. I don't understand how. I just didn't have a clue.

OK, time to get going again.
Be sure to check the first post in this thread, as the "rules", such as they are, have been modified. Let me know if you have any problem with any of them.
OK, this film is a considered a classic.

This thread is for someone to post clues about a movie they are thinking about. Others can guess what movie the poster has in mind. The first person who guesses the movie correctly gets to post their own mystery movie.
Note: the movie plot doesn't have to be a mystery, but it should have a plot and not be just a series of unrelated skits. A documentary would not suffice as it generally has no plot. The title of the movie is the mystery here. The movie could be about anything. The movie should be a theatrical full length feature film, not a TV movie. And it should be a real movie with sound, with actual people actors, not just their voices, animations or cartoons.
There are no limitations as to where the movies are created, as long as they are relatively well known. So, Europe, USA, Asia, etc. are fine. Hollywood films are OK for this game, as are foreign made films. The movie should have garnered critical acclaim and/or at least one industry award/nomination. If nobody guesses the film title within a reasonable number of clues, and all announce they give up, then it will be incumbent upon the puzzler to reveal the title of the film.
After the movie title is solved, time permitting, the puzzler should document the clues and how they are supported by the film.
I will lead off the first Mystery Movie with clues in the next post. Enjoy!
Couple of questions: I've already asked, but will again. How is the next clue giver chosen if no one guesses? The Sound requirement: does this mean Talkies only? Gold Rush would not longer be allowed by rule. Would a mix of animation and live actors be allowed? Edit do awards and nominations include razzy type awards?
