Just from memory, which is somewhat cobwebby, france implemented an income tax years ago. It was pretty much universally ignored. You know how the French are. Snooty, self righteous, they tend to spit when they talk, and many of their women don't shave their legs. so the powers that be went with a value added tax, VAT, a consumption tax. Huh, thanks for the link. I've been aware of the asparagus issue since the mid-1970's when I took some university nutrition classes. And yes I am both an excreter and a detector. I have never asked family members; my assumption is they are the same. I actually enjoy the taste of asparagus, but the aroma does sort of put me off. Fortunately it doesn't appear until an hour or more after consumption of the vegetable.
Now I'm gonna go buy some asparagus at the local market, LOL.
