Just heard on the CBS evening news that the CDC has found that persons who have caught covid-19 "naturally" are FIVE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO GET REINFECTED.
Five times.
Yeah, I'd get vaccinated.

Read my article from NPR regarding coronavirus and reinfection. Mostly because I want to watch you get triggered.

The one who seems most triggered here is RWB.
Who, by the way, I understand opted to get vaccinated despite some medical concerns.
Go figure.

From the article: WTF is this? The sample population is people “who were hospitalized with Covid-like illnesses”, and then testing those populations for actual Covid? How do they get the “5 times more effective” from these numbers, and how are people who are sick with “Covid like illnesses” representative of the larger populations? This seems like actual shit science, but I’m open to understand this better and determine that it’s just shit journalism.

Yeah, I'd get vaccinated. By definition, those who have already had it are the only ones that can get reinfected. That is the key to the "re" part of the word. So this is incoherent. It is amazing that CDC, the supposed authority on this stuff, is relying on such a trash study and such a garbage conclusion. They literally just took a batch of people hospitalized with covid-like symptoms, divided them into vaccinated and past infection, then said because group X were more likely to have their covid-like symptoms attributed to Covid itself, that this meant that they were 5 times more likely to get Covid, generally. It is unbelievable that a study like this would make it to publication, much less be picked up and amplified by CDC. Not to mention fooling literally anybody into thinking the conclusion matches the data.

Everything about that study seems like it’s f***ed.

Um, the MMWR is the CDC's official weekly information channel.
"Among COVID-19–like illness hospitalizations among adults aged ≥18 years whose previous infection or vaccination occurred 90–179 days earlier, the adjusted odds of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 among unvaccinated adults with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection were 5.49-fold higher than the odds among fully vaccinated recipients of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine who had no previous documented infection (95% confidence interval = 2.75–10.99)."

Haven't had covid, get your shot. Had covid? Get your shot.
I believe I've been pretty consistent on this while the wing-nuts change stories every week.
