Hey, I'm not dissing Christianity. This is just an example of how evil can don many disguises, including being a dedicated Christian.
I've been to some meetings (fortunately with other people) where some obsessed avowed Christian seemed to have more than a few screws loose.

Good one.
But don't forget all the Christian Crusades...

Murder is bad. Religious people murdering is bad. Is it any worse than irreligious people murdering?

What can be "inherently hypocritical"?
Religion?
Murder?
Irreligion?

Murder would be hypocritical for someone who adheres to a religion that condemns murder.

Ah, but most religions seem to have condoned killing if it's ostensibly to protect the religion. Crusades, witch burning, holy wars, pogroms, etc.

Well...there's "Christendom" and there's "Biblical Christianity." From my perspective, there is a bit of overlap between the two. A bit.

IMHO, most, if not all, religions are hypocritical.

Murder would be hypocritical for someone who adheres to a religion that condemns murder. Have never heard of a religion that does not condemn murder. Even cannibals condemn murder.

IMHO, most, if not all, religions are hypocritical. When a "christian" supports the likes of trump that is definitely hypocritical. I can find no scripture that would do so, and plenty that do not.

I've had a hard time reconciling alleged Christian support for Trump, too. The man is clearly (IMO, at least) the most venal, corrupt, thin-skinned, self-serving, button-pushing, malignantly narcissistic sociopath that ever sought, let alone achieved, the oval office. He has been on both sides, completely opposite of each other, of every important issue there is. Just depends on the day usually. He cares no more for aborting babies than he does putting down stray dogs, but somehow convinced "evangelicals" he did so they embraced him. I almost wrote made a Faustian bargain but they did not do that. They fully embraced him, warts and all. One of them even told me the reason he liked him so much was "He's just like us." A fellow church member said that, and many other church members felt the same way. Probably still do. I told them to leave me out of "us." When asked why I repeated the second sentence in his post. So we agreed not to discuss it any more. Has worked well.
Some even believe he was sent by God. To those I say "Could be, but don't forget God sent ten plagues on the Egyptians, too. Being sent by God is not always to the benefit of the recipients."

For many, he was seen as means to an end. Like almost any group of people, you can't generalize across the board because of a few that you have met.

Christianity Today, to which I subscribe, has this on their site today: www.christianitytoday.com/news/2021/november/trump-effects-evangelical-churches-witness-survey-election.htmlKind of the same points as your link. The thing that puzzles me is it's so painfully obvious to me (and not just me) that Trump really champions nothing but himself, and he will say or do anything that furthers that. He has always been that way. He was raised that way. Drilled it into his kids. Win at all costs. Never apologize. Those are his only two core values. The only two he has ever had or ever will have. I like the magazine and other publications of CT and on the whole I would have to say it is mostly a non-Trump entity. Russell Moore, run off from the ERLC at SBC for not loving Trump enough, landed there. I had given up the SBC as a young earth, trumpie cult until the election of the head guy went to Ed Litton. Decided there may be hope yet.

Some might argue that Donald Trump is the Anti-Christ.
