They are wanting to cut funds to a program that is intended to help poor minorities. By liberal standards that is the epitome of racism. Y'all get so mad when I apply your standards to you.
Well, as has been pointed out, the program does not appear to be helping poor minorities. In fact, it seems to be lining the pockets of fat cats. So, they have taken the view that the program is NOT doing what it is INTENDED to do. With that in mind, they want to get rid of it. What's wrong with that?

None of the other programs have done what they were intended to do either. So let's get rid of racially integrated schools, the Civil Rights Act, and affirmative action. None of it is working. Blacks made 60% of white incomes and had twice white unemployment in the 1960s, and they still do today. It's been sixty years. None of it has worked, because it was all based on bad assumptions. Nothing will ever fix this.  Plenty of programs work, plenty don't. It really seems past even your usual level of stupid to advocate for keeping a program that didn't work. I guess your racism trumps your politics. |

Before the Civil Rights Act, blacks had twice the unemployment and 60% of the income of whites. After the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits race-based employment, those numbers are exactly the same all the way up to today. It's like the people who used to hire based on race were right, because when you remove the ability to do that, things are exactly the same, except for all the litigation, paperwork, and bullshit we have to go through now. But the outcome is exactly the same. Also, the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3, says: Slaves were treated as three-fifths of a person. Guess what 60% of income is expressed as a fraction. Added: I know that what I am saying is not nice. But I question the assumption that reality is nice. Shitbird. Greg |

I'm sure that you noticed that the only ones here who are supporting this rightwinger tax giveaway to the rich are rightwingers. It's reps AOC and Talib and liberal posters who advocate defunding this crap program. Then, maybe you didn't. Oh no no no. The worth of the program is in its intent. Isn't that right? Libs have told us for decades that programs that don't work just need more funding and that whether or not they work is not the measure of their worth. The intent is all that matters, consequences be damned. So, you are not allowed to bring up the value of a program intended to help imporvished minorities. To do so is automatically racist. Bullshit. If you have to resort to this rather than comprehending and contributing, then perhaps you should start over and listen to what is being discussed rather than listening to and discussing what the Reichwing corporate media echo chamber is regurgitating onto your dinner plate. Case in point: If those numbers had improved, then the gap would have changed. They didn't so it didn't. So AA failed. Six years ago, AA turned 50. Where was the celebration? Where was the embellishment of achievement? There wasn't any because it didn't work. Again, you don't understand. AA is a scar on this country that we are forced to live with because there are too many who still refuse to hire anyone but a white dude. AA is an acknowledgement that our country is populated, at least in part, by those who do NOT agree that everyone should be treated equally.
Why would that be celebrated? It would be celebrating our own vice.
AA performs a function. It has succeeded, still is succeeding, in that function. The function is to make the ethnicity of the American workforce parallel the ratio of 'races' living in it. Again, really surprising that this is a new concept to you. Has ZERO to do with job quantity.

If 'intent' means goal, than what other purpose does a government program have?
Is there some other metric that I am not understanding.
The goal is to increase diversity. That's what AA did and does.
