Have any of you seen this?
A Smithsonian museum apologized for a chart listing hard work and rational thought as traits of white culture.
The National Museum of African American History and Culture said in a statement Friday that it was wrong to include the graphic in an online portal about race and racism in America.
“It is important for us as a country to talk about race. We thank those who shared concerns about our ‘Talking About Race” online portal. We need these types of frank and respectful interchanges as we as a country grapple with how we talk about race and its impact on our lives,” the statement said. “We erred in including the chart. We have removed it, and we apologize.”
Yes, boys and girls, the liberals and their race pimp friends really are that stupid.
God in Heaven help us. We've lost our way.

Actually there's a lot in that exhibit that is quite accurate.
When I was growing up, a lot of the characteristics could be summed up in the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, or WASP, culture of America of the 50's. And the Smithsonian site is truthful when it says those characteristics have unavoidably been absorbed to some extent by Americans of all races, for better or worse. Or are you claiming otherwise?
Seems to me you, like many who feel threatened by racial equality, are uncomfortable with frank discussion of these matters.

I'd be willing to bet you've never been to The National Museum of African American History and Culture. I've been there.. TWICE with my family. It was well worth the trip. Going again if I get the chance. Greg

What do you think of Peecon's characterization of The National Museum of African American History and Culture as "The Ugliest Museum in the U.S."?

I'd LOVE to compare it to The National Museum of Lilly White Southern History and Culture museum. But.... I can't... Greg

If there were such a place, I'm sure Peecon and/or D-fect would know where it is.

You missed the point as usual. This chart was taken down because it was deemed to be racist because it inferred that the listed characteristics were associated primarily with whites, i.e. NOT other races. It was obviously meant as a "you might be too white if..." kind of list when, in reality, it was a list full of complements for those who are fortunate enough to meet those laudable characteristics. Normal people should and do aspire to the traits that are listed there.
You just can't make this stuff up.
As far as this being the ugliest museum in America, there were a couple of reasons. One, it's obviously racist to establish a museum based primarily on skin color and, two, the building looks like a stack of food trays at a Chinese restaurant.

It's worship of the WASP, the Protestant work ethic (work hard, don't bitch, die, go to heaven for the real reward of suffering life on earth) paired with the old school racist worldview. Blatant racism by today's standards. But I get it, a blast from the (((GLORIOUS))) past! Back when men were men and the sheep were scared...

My first impression of it was that it looked like a huge boat, like an ark, or maybe like a slave ship. Yeah, I'd heard it was designed to invoke the slave ship imagery. As a transplanted, lily white French Canadian having lived in rural Appalachia the past thirty years, visiting the Black History Museum is definitely on my bucket list. Wasn't built when I first toured DC and I think it's a much needed addition to telling the full American story.

Also, you have to order tickets online in advance. No same day sales because of the crowds (used to be anyway). Only exceptions are for military retirees or active duty and reservists. Ask me how I know. Greg

Going again if I get the chance. Greg Nope, haven't been to DC in 30 years. But here's one more item to add to the "list" above; if something in the NMAAHC or related monuments or memorials offended us, we wouldn't call for its removal or destruction.
You are entitled to your heritage and your heroes, even if we don't all agree with how it's displayed or portrayed.
Evidently, this kind of tolerance for the heritage of others is a one way street.

"Paired with the old school racist worldview" Where in that list do you get THAT?
As a dedicated leftist, I realize that you're struggling as you attempt to find anything wrong with the characteristics in the list, but is "work ethic" really the comparison you want to make?

Where do I get it? It's the damned letterhead across the top! "Aspects of Assumptions of WHITE Culture in the United States", was a bit of a hint. It's a burden we must carry huh?

I ask again: where does it say "paired with the old school racist worldview"? Or is that fresh from your imagination? Seems that the only racists in this story are the authors of this chart, whose attempted smears backfired.

"Individualism, hard work, traditional families and rational thinking" represent cultural and racial arrogance?
That list contains qualities that we should all strive to achieve, regardless of race. The African American Museum staff developed what they thought was a racial smear list to try to divide us further and belittle the values dear to most normal people. Yet another reason why that's an ugly building.
