It has to be all the wanton death and needless harm. The war on the enemy within. But actual death and stuff, yeah? Starting wars. Slaughtering entire populations domestically. That sort of thing. Most definitely. But I don't see those policy decisions as some random and unexplained aberration, rather they look like the extreme consequences of ideology. Of course not every example of illiberalism leads to holocaust, but even those relatively minor tragedies are something we should seek to avoid. |
